yes it does. it is acidic. Also, some foods and drinks (orange juice) cause your stomach to produce more acid to digest which in turn causes more reflux.
I take nexium.

The answer is No. True "reflux" is termed GERD- gastroesophageal reflux disorder. To simply put it, reflux occurs when the contents of your stomach "reflux" back up to the esophagus (the internal organ that delivers food from the mouth to the stomach). There is a sphincter muscle called the LES-lower esophageal sphincter muscle and a GEV-gastroesophageal valve. The LES's job is to open when food is delivered to the stomach and close when food is digested in the stomach, and the GEV is to allow one-way flow of food/fluids. In some people, the LES and GEV work improperly and allows stomach contents to reflux back up to the esophagus. OJ is acidic, and if there is an acid problem, the OJ can contribute to it. However, factors that are more important to GERD is usually being overweight, eating then lying down, sphincter muscle or valve problems, etc.
Doctors usually prescribe Proton Pump Inhibitors (acid blockers)- Nexium, Protonix, Prevacid- to decrease the acidity and then less likely damaging the lining in your esophagus.

I believe to some degree, many people have a small degree of reflux, but have no symptoms. But when they eat certain foods like OJ or spicy foods, their symptoms can be exacerbated... but I dont think that OJ CAUSES reflux.

Addendum- there is some speculation that certain foods MAY cause relaxation of the LES, but no documented proof that I am aware of.

I have reflux, and OJ dosent bother me a bit. The thing is, reflux is caused by different things bacteria, stress, worms (really, I know its gross but its true). And it is also caused by the lack of ensymes in your stomach, which may not be able to digest certain foods. You might wanna try eating a lot of raw plants, fresh pineapple has unique ensymes that your body uses for weeks after you eat it, and there are similar ensymes in most vegetables, but you have to eat them raw for the ensymes to work because heat breaks them down into useless stuff.
Or you could just get some prilosec it works great for ongoing daily problems. But keep in mind that 90% of all reflux is fixable with antibiotics and nexium - which is prescription strength prilosec.
