I live in germany now but still have my subscription to SKY UK with a standing order - I have the 4 mix package - knowledge /style & Culture / Music & Variety....my sky box - an old 'Pace' has died on me ....I was thinking of buying a Pace DS440N Sky Box Satellite Receiver Digibox which is apparently excellent for weak signal areas. OR is there a better option?

Q 1 - If i purchase this receiver box can i simply pop my sky viewing card into the new machine and will it work.....?
( my dish and card are ok as the engineer told me so and its def the receiver thats dead )

Q 2 - Im paying 21 pounds a month for my channels and i am happy with this selection - are there any ways to get these channels cheaper / free ? Its just a pain having this standing order attached to a UK adress when im in germany now...

Thankyou so much !!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

yes no problem, I guess that the pre amp has gone duff, replaceable for abour £20 to £30.
We live in france and keep our UK Barclays account without problems and even our visa cards bills are sent here so your standing order should not be a problem. Anyway you will find after a while that the same programs over and over are a drag.
When you stop paying the card reverts to a Free card and then you can still get channel 4 and 5 and the other channels that require a card. All bbc channels ITV and some others work without a card.
Card activation can be also done from Germany using Skype or a UK mobile.

I am selling satellite receivers in shop.
You will have good signal with every kind of receivers. They have small difference in receiving signal.
The most important is how big is dish but in your area you will not have problem.
About the receiver you have to ask in store if card reader read your card{ I mean the same crypt like card}.
About the paying visit http://www.rdi-files.com.
There you can find some possibilities to not pay for some channels but not for Astra 28 {English Astra}.
I am from Bulgaria and all British people here watching here from sky box.
Only you have to tell that you are in England and they will activate your card.Any one not watching if you really call from
abroad. The most good receiver is "DREAM BOX' Madden in Germany.
It is the best also for pirate work.

You will need to ring sky to marry the new box to the existing card. However, because you are recieving british tv illegally, sky will cancel your account if they found out you are recieving it abroad - and apparatntly if you call about your account from an itnernational number they will do just that. Call from the UK or your UK based mobile.

I know people who ring up sky and threaten to cancel and get all kinds of subscription deals if you agree to stay. there is a chance they will just say Thanks...Good bye.... though

If you call from an international number
