Eat a healthy diet--be sure to get in fruits and veggies!
Drink a lot of water!!
And, get active!!!
Keep in mind, a healthy weight loss is just 1-2 pounds per week. But, 10 pounds could be done in a month with being careful with what you eat, drinking lots of water AND exercising.

i dont really like to eat a lot of meat, so I didn't try atkins even though lots of people swear it works. I have lost 9 lbs in 2 weeks by changing what I eat and exercising. I drink a slimfast optima for breakfast (it really keeps me from getting hungry while Im bored in class), fruit as a snack, another slimfast for lunch or a lean pocket, more fruit or veggies, and then something small for dinner (like some chicken or a leanpocket). I also drink as much water as possible (like 4 or 5 bottles of water) during the day. And surprisingly Im not hungry and I feel great. I also exercise on my eliptical for 20 min during the day and take a 30 min walk after dinner.

Maybe you won't lose quite 10, but you can lose about 6-8 by working out for 30 minutes daily and keeping your calorie intake below or around 1200 a day. This is the healthiest way to go about losing weight, you'll lose about 2-3 pounds a week.

I would reccomend Atkins.
In the first week you could lose up to 15 ibs. Excercise will definetly help keep you losing though.
