After yelling & slaping them I would show them where the door is & tell them "To shut it behind them"
I told a friend of mine that the doctor said my first daughter was smart for her age (which she is, she has been tested) know what his response was?
"Yeah, no-one wonts to be told that their kid is dumb"
Needless to say, he isnt a friend anymore!
I am so sick of people putting other people down, weither it be kids or adults doing it. Thats why alot of people today have low self esteam, poor self body image and are all around depressed.
If people dont have anything nice/kind to say they shouldnt say anything. And if they keep going they should have their mouths medically close up for good

Tell them beauty is seen in the eyes of the beholder and belittle them by saying that no one ever told you that on the contrary. All cases the appearance is the creation of God so she can complain to them and tell her ugly or not thank God your kid is in healthy condition. Be confident in your kid's beauty and kids do change when they grow. God bless.

I'd probably ask them if they had looked in a mirror lately or ask them if they had ever had any manners taught to them. I have seen not very attractive kids before, but how cruel to just come up and tell someone that. My kids are beautiful of course! LOL just like all the moms on here.

I would say have you looked at your own kids lately they are not to hot themselves and for you as an adult to come up to me say something like that shows me you are very immature and need to grow you should be ashame about talking about a child

I would not believe them, I know my kids aren't ugly, I get told how cute they are all the time!

Just tell them that your kid will grow up into one of the most good looking people on the planet. One of my cousins wasn't a very cute baby but he is now one of the most good looking people I know.

All you can do is ignore it and try not to let it bother you. I for one would tell them that I thought my child was beautiful and I think it was very rude of them to say she was ugly. But really, you can't teach old people manners if they don't already have them.

First of all, if this is someone you considered to be a friend, I might second guess that. Second of all, I do not think it is inappropriate to let that person know that what they said was rude. Some people need to learn how to hold their tongues. If someone told me my kid was ugly, I would probably say something along the lines of: "Just to let you know, I do not appreciate rude comments like that. Please keep your opinions to yourself in the future."

Knowing me and how protective I am of my kids, I would have probably responded on the spot in a not-so-friendly way, including the words "f-u". :) However, because this is Yahoo Answers and I'm able to take time to be rational, I would probably recommend that you correct them in the nicest way possible, distance yourself from that person, and not count them as a good friend.

Just say Oh. Then nothing else. With a straight face. Watch their reaction when there is utter silence. Then go about your business and dote all over your beautiful baby.
