I have just realised that the pharmacy made a mistake and gave me twice the same medecine, 1 set in a box, 1 set in a bottle...
So not only he forgot to give me half of my prescription, he also made me take double dose of medication. Nice.

I am furious. If I had not noticed, the result could have been nasty.

Could someone tell me where I can make a formal complaint?
Thank you in advance.

Thanks for the answers - to clarify: I do not wish to sue or claim for damages, but to write a letter of complaint to the relevant body (if such thing exist in the UK?).
I triple-check MY work, so I would like to do something to make this person take his job seriously.

Your should just complain to the senior at the chemist, this shouldn't happen because 2 people should sign off the prescription. I assume that when you got the prescription that you were given the wrong medication in one instance. This could of been really harmful.
I work in a veterinary practice and we check, check again and double all medications dispensed.
Unfortunately mistakes do happen, but if you dont voice your complaint, then the pharmacist cant learn from them mistakes.

I realise that upon noticing the mistake and thinking of the consequences you are shocked and angered. However, how many mistakes haven't you made in a single day. He could have had some very bad news lately. He could be going through death in the family or a nasty divorce. Don't be hard on him. Just phone him and explain, and ask for an answer. Be reasonable and give the guy a chance. We aren't all perfect, are we?

My Mother is in a law suit against her Dentist (NHS) she's in the right as to what happened but the suit has been going on for years now and there looks like there is going to be no end to the situation at all. All it has done is cost her time, money and Patience my advice would be to just complain in person to the Dentist and then drop it. If you pursue it you'll spend years just to get them to admit to being wrong then you'll spend even more years trying to get some sort of settlement, I'm not trying to discourage you but there are so many people looking for an "American, quick buck" where you sue anyone for anything. So the NHS has to be really careful about anything they admit to or except to their responsibility these days thanks to this ridiculous Americanism ideology effecting the rest of the world .
My advice drop it as you will no doubt regret it in the end as you will win nothing and it will take years to sort out.
If you are American sorry if I offended you but hay sue me, I'm sure that you can there!

Just go back and tell him/her. He/she is only human, and we all make mistakes. I agree this could have been nasty, but thank goodness you noticed. I think a complaint from you direct to the person concerned, is sufficient.

Cool it !!

They made a mistake - complain to the Chemist.

**They did NOT 'make' you take double the dose - no court would uphold your claim.

Your complaint should certainly go WITH EVIDENCE to your Chemist. Then ask your GP what to do, if anything, about it. Good Luck.
