When I close MS Word it asks me: do I want to make changes to the "global template?" This is annoying!! How can I make it stop?

Always tell it no.

Chances are you have accidentally clicked on some option change as default. This is the most common reason for it to ask if you want to change the global template. So, unless it is a change you always want to have as a default on any blank new document, do not select "Default" on changes you make. This option is available in Formt>Font, File>Page Setup, etc.

Alternatively, you may have a corrupt normal.dot document. You need to exit WORD, and locate normal.dot and delete it. The next time you open WORD it will automatically create a new normal.dot (global template). This should resolve the problem if it is a corrupt "global template."

Still having trouble? You may need to repair/reinstall WORD.

Somehow you have opened the main template
You need to get into the Organizer, and see if there is any problem with the Global Template. Usually the way to stop the Prompt is to actually Save the Changes in the Global Template, but that may not be good, however it is the only wau until you can repair or replace the normal.dot in the word folders
If you have Office 2003, go to Help then to "Detect and Repair" this will fix anything wrong in Office 2003 version of Word
