Impreza if you can find one
Hyundai, any of the newish ones.
Focus isnt bad
Civic isnt bad
Sentras are bad-avoid-terrible crash test ratings
Ion isnt bad, but the Cobalt is better for a bit cheaper and nearly the same car (quality has been better so far though)
Along with www.edmunds.com, also check the Yahoo cars section, it has pretty good reviews done by actual people.

A Toyota Camry or a Honda Accord are you best bets. They may be a bit older than a comparable domestic, but they are much more reliable, depreciate less, have much higher owner satisfaction and are generally better cars.

A newer (05, 06) Saturn Ion, they have great safety specs and good gas mileage. Or Ford Focus.

Anything that is a Honda will be your best bet.
I would recommend and newer Honda Civc.
