My 17 month daughter still has a bottle at nap time and bed time only. She will not drink milk out of a cup. Some times she will drink out of a straw but very rarely. Any suggestions??

When it was time to wean my children off of the bottle, we only gave water in the bottle, EVER. After a few days of being really mad at me, they got used to it, and we tossed the bottle. You have to stick to your guns. You are the adult, and YOU call the shots, not them. Good luck!

I was having the same problem with my son and when he turned 12 months i just took it away and kept offering the cup, i found the ones with the soft spout worked well and it only took one day!! He knew i was not going to give in and decided he would take the cup!! It was not bad at all!! He whined a little bit for it the first day, but then he was over it!! Do not give in to her or she will cry everytime!! Just throw all the bottles away so you will not be tempted to give in!! Make sure you give lots of praise when she does drink from the cup!! Tell her she is a big girl, clap, cheer, make it fun and she will forget all about the bottle!! Do not wait any longer!! The longer you wait the harder it will be!! Good luck and stay strong, this is what is best for her!!!

Look for the Nuby cups with the soft tops. My child is almost a year old (tomorrow) and doesn't use a bottle anymore. Hasn't used one in 3 weeks now. I also have 2 other kids. My middle one was the hardest to get off of the bottle. I designated 1 cup for milk, 1 cup for juice, and so on. That worked out perfectly!!! It took a lot of work to get her away from that bottle, but this made the adjustment so much easier. My oldest just decided she didn't want the thing anymore.

Give her big praise when she uses a cup and tell her what a big girl she is becoming.

If you don't want to go cold turkey, start weaning her with the less liked bottle (either nap or bed) and start giving her less in the bottle. If she has 8 oz, go to 6 oz for a few days, then 4, then mix 1/2 milk, 1/2 water to 4 oz, then go to straight water.

After she is off the one bottle, wait about a week and go for the other one. Good Luck how ever you decide to go.

OK this is kinda gross but,
My 2 year old was still on the bottle and found an old bottle that had rolled under the bed. He came to me with it and had a very gross look on his face. He said EWW!! Mama! I then told him bottles are ca ca!! and he needs to through them in the trash!! So he threw it in the trash and then we looked for the other bottles and I had him through them in the trash. We took them out to the trash outside and dumped them. He however still wanted his warm milk at night and before bedtime so we sit at the counter before night night and I give him his warm milk out of the sippy cups. They are made by Playtex and have a rubber no spill attachment in the inside so that he has to suck a little bit and he loves them. They are spill proof so when I am really tired i will let him take his with us to the room and when he wakes up it is there for him. I dont let him keep it in his mouth while he is sleeping. It has turned out to be a great alternative for the bottle. I am now slowly taking that from him. It is much easier top wing him from that then the bottle!!

What we did worked for our 20 month old. My husband dropped a small amount of lemon juice and our daughter would throw away her bottle. She said it was icky...she would then take another bottle i would fill it up with milk and my husband would be behind me with the lemon concentrate and put a small drop and I would give it to her. She would drink out of it and have a sour face then throw it in the garbage...we continued this until all her bottles were in the garbage....then she decided she wanted to use a cup....no more bottles...she does not even ask for a bottle anymore...

somewhat you ought to have weaned your son off the bottle thoroughly at a million yrs previous. that's while maximum pediatricians advise weaning. while a baby is going from formula to take advantage of. on condition that that isn't the case, you will possibly be able to desire to grant him a sippy cup as a replace, and tell him that bottles are for toddler's and he's now no longer a toddler and needs to apply the sippy cup. that's a alternative act. Taking one element, and changing it with something else. it won't be ordinary before each thing, yet interior a week, they generally %. up on the concept they're unlikely to be getting the bottle back. you additionally can provide him the bottle and say ok, weren't going to apply those not extra, and have him throw them away himself. So he see's that they are long previous and not going to return back. additionally you will possibly be able to desire to wean him off of ingesting something yet water at nighttime, that's going to help forestall tooth decay. and attempt to shrink how lots he's taking, with him mattress wetting. What we had to finally do isn't any drinks 1hr ahead of mattress, or we'd have a moist mattress and a moist baby to deal with the subsequent morning.

During easter take her to the park and put all the bottles in basket. Beforehand get a basket full of goodies (toys and sweets) and have a letter there read out loud. I am the easter bunny I have left these treats here for you so we can trade. I need ALL your bottle to feed my 25 baby bunnies. Please. Show her all the goodies and pretend how great they are. She will make the trade and if she ever says bottle again tell her to tell the easter bunny next easter and she is the one who made the deal

well you need to do it cold turkey she is way to old for it. Mine transitioned to a soft spout sippy cup when she was 12 months and on her b day off the bottle!! Just try the soft spout one to see if that works

throw all the bottles away so she can't have one. buy her a special sippy cup and give it to her with milk. she will see that there is no more bottles and if she gets thirsty enough she will take the cup. when this happens praise her. good luck.
