In the uk the normal ones prescribed by doctors for similar conditions are ROC spf 25 and uvistat (available in several different spfs). It is not normally necessary to use higher than factor 25 - just apply regularly if out in sun.

My daughter burned her ankle to the bone and has a skin graft. She uses Hawaiian Tropic OZONE sunblock UVB/UVA protection 70SPF bought it at Wal Mart. It works. As advised, she reapplies after swimming and every hour. Hope this helps! They told my daughter to use the highest SPF she could find and no less than 50 SPF. I limit her "just sitting around" in the sun to about 2 hours a day. Even in the shade, she reapplies every hour. Have a great summer!
