I only know what I have been told; the armed forces have been trying to create a new government where the Iraq people stand on their own with a strong military and stable government. Is this true?

Preferably someone who WAS/IS in Iraq situation.

I work with the Marines at Camp Pendleton, most of whom have been in Irag for more than 1 rotation. By a huge majority, they believe that is what they are doing. Almost every one of them says the media mis-represents what is going on there and seemingly never reports on any their successes, which are many.
They also believe you cannot support them and not the war. One of the best lines a Marine said to me was this..."If you were going to try out for an Olympic sport and everyone said you'll never make it, you'll fail, why try, or it's too hard. Would you believe them if they said they supported you?"
BTW, I am not a Republican or Democrat.....just like to find intelligent ideas traded in an itelligent way.
These men and women are my heros. They are intelligent, commited, and put service before self.

I agree w/ Partisan, the media does not report the whole story - just negative. Our military is fighting for those who can't fight for themselves & for the security of America's future. My brother spent over a year in Iraq - you don't hear about the schools that they are building, the school supplies being pass out - nothing positive.

The U.S. armed forces will help quell the violence, fight rouge factions, train soldiers and commanders, help weed out corrupt commanders, allow the government to go forward and form unhindered, help keep government officials safe from assassination, provide humanitarian support, etc.

I copy "identity withheld" (and I don't blame you with the abuse of th patriot act)
The military has my support, but too many beautiful men are coming home without arms or legs.
The current gov't is doing a horrible job... the world was on board with the US until the lies and mismanagement of this "invasion" have been surfacing.

to kapute 2: U remember it well? AND in reference to one of your questions... where and when was it proven Iraq had a nuclear program that they were going to use for war? Enlighten me. Show me the site I can go to.... please
