Most of the names of the artists are not a reflection of R&B as it is not their stage name but their government name. A good stage name can only established upon hearing the music. For instance, when musiq first came out his stage name was Musiq Soulchild. He temporarily shortened that stage name to just Musiq. This was done to direct our focus. It is impossible to label on the unknown. There are lot of stage names that I can think of which not only reflect but are the epitimee of soul and R&B. However, I wouldn't know what is the right fit. In this business stage names that are catchy, easy to remember, and memorable are what sell. It is the music that reflects the essence of R&B. However since I have not heard your style and you have not given an indication as to which R&B/Soul artist your sound may resemble, I can't give a valid suggestion. With that being the case, I can provide you with tips that should help you to find the name that you are searching for. Your name should be a reflection of the style that you are bringing. If your style is that raw, nitty gritty **** in which you are capable of belting out over any beat, such as hip-hop track or a rock track, and it's still tight than you should have a name that is an oxymoron as it represents the merging of two worlds. You name should basically emphasize what you bringing to the R&B/Soul world. Stage names are a combination of who you are (musical style), where you're from or something that reminds you of where you've been (e.g. Dru Hill, 702), etc.

What's an "Afro-American name", and if you aren't Afro-American then why use one? I really suggest you use your real name, or just your first name. Gimmicks just assure that you won't be around very long. Good luck with your career!

I think your music should speak for it itself. You shouldn't need a 'cool' name to get people's attention. Sing up sweetheart and stick to your roots.
