If anybody know someone been in this situation . Please give my your suggestion/advice especailly parents that have been through this. I don't mind hearing from someone from the legal team either. I hope she don't have to go there. My friend about to have a baby next 2 months. She want to name the baby after the child's father but he want to name the baby after his father. That is the tradition in his culture. I read a brochure at a hospital. It said she has the right to name the baby especially since they are not married or will be time of birth. It has to go to court order to get the baby name change. I gave her the brochure that what it said. the name he want she don't know how to spell it or pronounce it. I told her it make since to me. You going have to said and spell his name over 3,000 in his lifetime. The child father told her because it a boy. The woman has the right to chooose and plus he has to sign paternity papers to include his name on the birth certificate.

Why doesn't your friend just comprimise on the issue. She could make the child's middle name the father's name and the first name the Grandfather's name, or vice versa.

The mother has the final say so in everything. I also believe that if I have to go through carrying, labor and delievery, I should get some say so in why my child is being named. That's exactly what I told my boyfriend. The nurses in the hospital don't ask the dad they ask the mother! Good LUck

Whether the parents are married or not, the mother has the final say-so in the child's name. I can't really understand what you're saying, but basically it's the MOTHER'S choice.
