Leave your emotions at home.
Know the price you want (research a reasonable price).
Be prepared to walk away and wait a few weeks.
Bring a friend who will help you stay on track... worst thing you can do is sit there staring at the car in the dealer w/ the cash on you...

It depends on the cars current price.
that's 500 above the invoice.
I'm an used car salesmen / new car broker.
If the car is hot, u'll be buying the car at MSRP.
If the car has good program, then u'll prolly be buying
the car in between MSRP and Invoice.
If the car has real good program, and the dealer needs to get rid of it, maybe invoice. = )
So it all depends. Just find out the invoice and getting it approx. 500 over invoice sounds reasonable. But if Yaris is a hot car, then u'll never get it 500 over invoice.

i'll tell you this, because i've worked for toyota for 8yrs...the smaller the car on the model line, the least amount of mark-up. don't expect a big discount in a yaris. it's a great choice for a compact, but you're looking at a 800 mark-up in this vehicle. your best bet, is to think of a price OVER invoice that is fair (400 over invoice??) and ask to see the invoice sheet. They will carry it in two places...one on a tack (which is kept at the managers desk), and the other in a 4'folder in the office. every dealership (toyota) handles the same way...don't be fooled. if they won't show it to you, they're being sneaky and dishonest. good luck.

Maybe I am naive, but I don't think new car prices change that much anymore. In other words, your first price given by the salesman is pretty close to the best price you'll get. Why? Because competition in all new car sales is intense nowadays, I wonder if I am right on this subject?

If your buying new, they pretty much have set prices, but if you are getting one a few years old, bargain for the price, like My celica gts was originally goen for 20 grand but i got him to knock it down to 16 grand, everything included, Free oil check and everything. Just don't appear to eager an d for every positive thing you see, see a negative one or say well you saw a nice once elsewhere so you'll get back to them. Be firm, eye contact, dress like an average man but smart and not easily taken advatage of.. DO your research about the car, make sure you know its pros and cons inside out lol
If its all in cash, tell them what your limit is, a good deal for you, but not unrealtistic.
Anyways good luck!

Don't accept any dealer-installed options, and don't buy any upgraded audio systems or wheels. Aftermarket audio and wheels will be cheaper (sometimes MUCH cheaper) and of better quality than what you will get through the dealer. Don't allow the dealer to convince you to take a car with useless options installed just because it's in stock - insist that you'll wait for delivery to get what you want.

Simply ask the dealer to see the invoice and offer a fair profit over invoice. I'm a dealer, and it would make things a lot easier for us and our customers if they would just do it. I personally think $500 over invoice is fair. I hope this helps and good luck!

go to yahoo autos and check the price of the 2007 yaris
then figure if that is a price you want to pay or how much over that you are willing to pay
then go to the dealer and tell them what you want and how much your want to pay
this only really works if you have really good credit
