The major component that distinguishes the hybrid form a regular car is the battery of course. These batteries have a ten year warranty and are the most expensive part on the car.
So, I would assume ten years, which is longer than most Americans own a vehicle. But of course, you can always repair and replace pieces.

What I wonder the most about is how much more devastating a hybrid car in a flood would be, versus a regular car.

They haven't really been around long enough for statistics. I can't think of anything that would shorten their life span, and if anything I would imagine possibly a bit longer than normal cars.

Hopefully longer than the 10 years it takes for them to recover the initial expense from the alleged fuel efficiency.

Normally it is best not to get the latest anything because they haven't worked out the bugs.
