I've been on Wellbutrin for the last couple years and I've had no noticeable side effects. It only works for me in conjunction with a couple other meds to stablize me because I'm bipolar, but it is the only anti-depressant that has worked for me. It's a good choice for people who don't react well to the more common SSRIs and newer SNRIs because it works on different chemicals in the brain.

I had a strange side effect! I started losing my hair. REALLY! And I have a lot of hair. The product did a great job for depression.. but it created the hair loss issue. I typed in Wellbutrin and hair loss into the search engines and lots of people were saying the same thing! I discontinued use and all the hair came back. I swear.

I also lost weight with it. 20 lbs in 3 months! Just wasn't hungry. If not for the hair loss.. I'd have stuck with it. Good luck to you!

I haven't ever been on it, but I know someone who is on it and she doesn't have any side effects. But if she forgets to take it she gets flu like symptoms which go away after she then takes it again. Wellbutrin is one of the newest meds and works very well when other more commonly used meds fail to help with clinical depression.

Well, jeezzz, I guess I'm the only one who will say anything positive about the drug. It can help you stop smoking and as for me and friends I've know, increases sex drive like crazy. In fact I take a mixture of Wellbutrin and Lexepro. The W/B makes me too sexual and the Lexepro takes away my sex drive. If I stop taking the Lexepro, all I can think about is sex. And I know I'm not the only one. I've been taking it for about four years now.

I have taken it several times in the past. My side effects were increased anxiety, dry mouth, increased energy, weight loss (about 3-5 pounds), decreased appetite, constipation and insomnia.

Some of those, such as the energy and decreased appetite wore off after a while. But I did take the extended release. My suggestion would be to try taking the lower doses (150 mg) twice a day. As early in the day as possible too, to avoid the insomnia. Also, take fiber to relieve the constipation.

It also helped me quit smoking. Made cigarettes taste awful.
Anyway, good luck. If it makes you feel too jittery, ask your doctor if you should try Paxil.

wellbutrin along with other conventional med's can be quite harsh...but it also depends on the extent of its use.
If i was in your shoes id rather try something Homeopathic (alternative) first and then take it from there. good luck!
