I talked to this guy in one of my classes for about three months and I really like him, but I don't know if he likes me. It seemed like me liked me by the way he would act around me, but I wasn't sure. Since then, we've switched to another class and barely talk to each other since he's always with his friends, but he looks over at me and tries to talk to me now, but barely. He's incredibly rude to other girls, but really nice to me, which I noticed from the beginning. Even though I talk to people that he basically hates, he still doesn't make fun of me behind my back, but instead lifts me up and calls me smart to other people. One of my friends asked him if he liked me, but he said he only wanted to be friends. Then again, he hates my friend as well..

Obviously, he acts kind of like he likes me..right? Or am I wrong? Does he just want to be friends?

This guy doesn't sound terribly trustworthy. I have problems with folks who are inconsistent with the way they treat others. If he's building you up, then perhaps he wants something from you? His motives may not be entirely forthright.

I suspect that he wants something from you more than being friends, but I'm also pretty sure that once he gets what he wants, that he'll drop you like a bad habit.

Ask him. Stop the wondering. I think from what you've said that he's obviously interested, just a little shy or awkward about showing it in front of others. Approach him in a friendly but casual manner. If all he wants is to be friends, lucky you. You can't have too many friends. If he wants more, lucky you. If he knows you want to talk, he'll be more friendly in return.

This works everytime. . . if he SAYS he wants to be friends . . treat him like a friend. Keep it to a simple "hey" as you pass him in the hall, be busy if he tries to stop you and talk to you . . . and NO FLIRTING!!! This is really important. . it may be that he knows you like him enough to hang around . . so play his game. If he really likes you, he'll work harder because he'll think you're slipping away from him. If that happens keep playing hard to get . . . this kills guys. Hey . . .it's how I got mine . . going on 4 1/2 years now. Give that a try I promise it will work.

Well, I doubt he would tell your friend that he "just wants to be friends" if he is really interested in a relationship. That would not make much sense. Then again, people do not always act in rational, predicatble ways.
Just go and ask him out. You really have nothing to lose.

may be he doesn't want no one to know that is what he's feeling. may be he wants to hide it or hide you. do yourself and favor and get his atttention and find out what's the deal because there is no sense in wrecking your brain over a wishy-washy dude
