You might want to make sure your boot will fit in the binding as is. I recently bought a used pair, and the binding needed remounting, but underneath the binding my shop found three previous mount jobs, with the screw holes open for moisture. I am basically screwed with these skis, because any unlucky force applied at the center of the ski will probably snap them in half.

Otherwise, check the bases to make sure there isn't any major damage, and the edges aren't rusted.

I would never advise buying skis sight unseen, like off of ebay.

You'd want to make sure the edges are sharp, there were no scratches on the bottom (base) of the ski, and if the top is textured for airflow, that there are no scratches on the top. If the top is just flat, with no texturing, scratches don't really make that much of a difference.

All of that can be pretty much completely fixed at a ski tuning shop.
