In the movie "Mary Poppins" she always sings about this magical spoon full of sugar. My daughter has trouble taking liquid medicine and gags at just the sight of it. I'm wondering if a spoon full of sugar with her medicine would really help? Or would this make the medicine not as affective? I'm not trying to sound ridiculous, I just thought it would help with the horrible taste and not to mention that we just watched the movie last night and I've been thinking of it ever since. So...

I don't know about the sugar part but I remember my mum crushing pills and putting them in jam for us to eat. It tasted mostly yummy, except for a small bitter part, but we didn't care.
In my nursing practice with the elderly, I learned that even the most stubborn were willing to take their medicines with a spoonful of jelly. Note that I said JELLY. Use jelly because the pills cannot disintegrate in it as they could in jam. It makes everything go down nice.

Another thing to consider is that some pharmacies (depending on the medication) offer different flavors of the liquid types. Ask, if applicable.

Try peanut butter or jam - my grandma always gave it to me that way and it was easy to get it down without the horrible taste.

You should try it if he likes sweet food. No harm in trying, it could make it taste a bit better :D ! x

I think it just makes the bad even worse. It might work for a child though...
