You should first call the police dept. and make an official complaint against this jerk cop. Then I would hire a lawyer and sue him for violating your rights.
I hope you get through this tough time... cops can be so mean and rude... I will be praying for you.

Ok. I know you say that you feel like a worse person now. But, the worst type of person in this situation would be the one that actually WAS drinking. I am not sure what caused you to accidentally swerve into the other lane. The only advice I can give you is to try to remember what caused it and make sure you don't do that again. We have all had some close calls, and maybe this was just brought to your attention in this way so that it does not happen again.
As far as the stress that you are bearing because of the tests itself. Try to put it behind you. Cops make me very nervous too, even though I do not do anything that will cause them to be mad at me. I think its just that law enforcement has that way about them. Its sorta like when we were kids and we are afraid of our parents responses. I think the best thing you can do is be proud of yourself for NOT being drunk. You were one of the lucky few that actually gets to walk away from that situation. The cops probably felt relieved as well that you were not just another intoxicated person on their roadways.

In order to avoid this "trauma" in the future, I would recommend turning in your drivers license and never operating a motor vehicle again. This is a condition of you operating a motor vehicle, you know. Anytime you operate one you are giving your legal implied consent to any law enforcement officer to conduct field sobriety and/or breath or blood tests to determine if you are impaired. Read you state laws. Sorry you are so traumatized by this. Would you be as traumatized if you had hit someone when you swerved over into the other lane? The person that you hit would have been.

You are not a bad person for having undergone a sobriety test. Many people do who are also sober. You may want to consider the experience a blessing in disguise and try to be a more defensive and careful driver. Also, be thankful that the officer cared enough to stop you to make sure you were okay. There have been too many times when a driver has had a heart attack or a seizure while driving.
One day an officer may pull someone over who swerves out of their lane and they might be drunk. Who knows if one of the lives that officer might save by getting a drunk off the road might be your own. Odds are no one who knew you saw you participating in a sobriety test. If someone you know did, make a joke out of it. And also, you need to be very pleased with yourself that you have the intelligence not to drink and drive! Have a fantastic day! Annie

hmm sounds like someones looking to get some money , THE OFFICERS HAVE A HARD JOB I as a paramedic see this all the time people pass out ,just simply getting pulled over ,being that you were sober does not necessarily mean you should be behind the wheel if your that easily traumatized.
I have had people wreck who were stone cold sober just from the sound of the siren & not being able to respond correctly to emergency vehicles .
I agree that it may be time to hang up your keys & stay off the road!

Wow, that's funny! If you were sober you should remember the little part about the Field Sobriety Test being voluntary. It is that way in all 50 states. You could have refused the Field Sobriety Test and spared yourself the shame and indignation and "Trauma" caused by the officer doing the job your (and his) taxes are paying for.

You can ease the pain by thinking about how you had the opportunity to see first hand how hard the police work at keeping you safe.

Get over it. You're not the first person this has happened to and you won't be the last.
Be happy that the cop was concerned enough to check for the safety of everyone on the road.

Geezy man....get over it. It was just a field sobriety test. The way your acting you think he yanked down your pants and turned you into a rump ranger. Are you 35 and still live at home with your mother?

Unless you were actually assaulted by the cops, I'm not sure how you could be so traumatized. I'm guessing perhaps you are only a bit too sensitive. At least the cops are doing their job.
