I don't see the evolutionary advantage of having those couple of extra inches of height. These days physical strength doesn't matter if you are homeless and out in the street. And women talk of feminism and yet consistently want a guy who is at least 6 feet tall?
You could say the same thing about guys and a girl's weight, but I consistently have seen more and more guys with girls on the chubby side. A guy's height seems to be the absolute most important aspect of a guy.

Also it's not as if girls just want someone who's taller than them. They want a guy who's tallest out of the bunch, the guy who is usually six feet tall. For girls, at least with diet and exercise you could lose some of the weight if it really mattered that much to guys, but for guys, height is predetermined and there's nothing you can do about, yet it is the single absolute quality that girls deem to be the most important physical aspect out of a guy.

A guy's height is certainly not his most important trait; however, we ladies will usually go for a guy taller than ourselves. There's just something very "little brother" about a guy who only comes up to your chin. I don't think feminism has anything to do with women's height preferences.
So, for the short guys out there, just go for short chicks. Your success rate will be higher. So to speak.

Because since we were little we've been told to go for tall men. Also, most women say it's hard to respect a short guy. They want to date a guy that makes them feel safe and secure. If you're short or look like another guy could beat you up, that's not really attractive.
Now don't get me wrong, short guys are strong but it's the way are brains are wired.
Also, based on the discovery channel, throughout history the bigger and taller you means you have a better chance of survival.
Notice how most animals will puff themselves up when they feel threatened.
Since women are usually shorter by nature, they want to ensure that their offspring will be taller than them. If a woman is 5'3, she'll tend to date a taller guy so her son will hopefully be of "average" height.
As far as modern views, most females want a guy who is tall so that when she wears heels she's not towering over him.

Some girls like tall guys because they are very selfconscious of how tall they are.A woman that really likes you should not be height related but heart related.I have seen short guys with tall girls and were married for a long time.As far as fat or chubby your true feelings are what counts not someone's weight.Hang in there someone will like you for who you are not what you are.

There is something about a man that makes him look like one by being tall. It's the same thing with their weight and muscles. Most woman get turned on by men with good bodies and not by the skinny ones. Woman also look good when they are tall, but it's not as important as it is for men. In order to be models though, woman must be tall.

They prefer men who are a little taller than average but not the tall or the tallest. Average height of men in the U.S. is 5'9 so if you're in the range of little over 5'9 and a little under 6'2 you hit the sweet spot.

not all girls prefer taller guys, mine isn't 6 feet tall but only a couple of inches taller than i am and I'm only 5 feet 5 inches. but you are right about one thing, more and more guys out there are with heavier women.

Because girls want to feel protected and it's just in our behavior (some girls like short boys).
Besides, it's traditional that guys take the lead role in dating whatsoever so i guess that's the thing with the height too.

Being with a short guy isn't that bad. I went out with one and the worst thing about it was being like a foot taller than him.. yeah it was quite funny. And then I was with a tall guy and it felt so much nicer, you feel way safer with them.

I guy's height will not keep me from dating him, or make me more likely to date him. But everyone has a preference.
I personally like a guy who is at least 2 inches taller than me. (I am 5'8".) I had a boyfriend who was 5'7", and even though he wasn't that much shorter than me it made me insecure (not less attracted to him.) I felt like I couldn't ever wear heels, which I love.
It worked out for me, because my fiance is 6'2". His height compliments mine, and I can wear all the heels I like.

The rules of attraction are much more primitive than we like to admit. Yeah, height and physical strength are not all that important to survivability these days, but our libidos still think that they are.
