nope, not at all, I love my badge and gun,

Officers don't break laws, a few, just like a few workers at walmart, like a few people working for the electric company and so on.

I don't particularly care if cops exceed the speed limit on the roads and things like that. What I don't like is when they harass a nervous civilian. A Mississippi State Trooper treated me this way. Over a freakin' unlatched U-Haul door. I had never used U-Haul equipment before.

And yes, I will continue to groan about it after almost two years as long as there is a forum to complain in. Have you ever been near a hot, hissing tar kettle? I'll tell you what: hate is a very powerful emotion. I don't know how to let go. Since I am a motorist, there is always a chance for a confrontation.

And no, officers: like I answered your colleague in Mississippi, I have never been arrested.

Wondering_lefty, the negative answers you got here are from bad cops who are arrogant and abusive toward the public. Not all cops are this way. But these jerks are the ones who give the police a bad rap.

Don't be angry and hateful as much as I am. It could ruin the quality of your life.

I'm assuming you mean traffic laws, because that's what most people whine about in this section.

If you mean criminal law, then no we can't break any of those (except for drug possession during an investigation etc).

There are special exceptions made to police built into the law (here in Ontario anyway) so that they can speed, go through red lights and not wear seat belts during the execution of their duties. Yes, yes I know....you have twelve stories of officers who you think weren't going to calls or anything and were speeding without rooflights (don't need them on when we speed by the way). Let us do our jobs and if you really want to do the same thing then get hired by the police.

If you see a police officer breaking the law do the following: Write down their car number, nearest address to where you are, the time and the offense...and turn it in to the local police station

If you want an omelet you have to break a few eggs. Why do you complain about police instead of complaining about those that break the law to begin with? Could it be that you are one of those who break the law?

They generally cannot, with very few exceptions.

For example, undercover cops are allowed to break drug possession laws, or solicitation laws, as part of a sting. Or police are allowed to speed in pursuit of a suspect or when responding to a call.

But generally, the laws that apply to everyone else don't have exceptions for police.

Sadly, because of the way reality works, police don't get prosecuted for breaking the law. That's abuse of power, and corruption -- which is too rampant in our society.

Who says they break the law? They get arrested just like you and the consequences are much more stringent than what would be meted out for you. And if you're referring to the age old "how come they can speed on the highway and we can't?" then please.....find something more suitable to use as an example.
Cops get arrested for murder, assaults, domestics and the like. Don't bother us with the inconsequential stuff okay?
