When she's old enough to have started winning shows, cleared ALL vet checks, pedigree checks, and genetic tests. If your mother doesn't want to deal with this, then she needs to fix the dog.
When YOUR MOM is old enough to have been involved with the breed for 5+ years. This includes working with other breeders, showing, and being able to judge proper conformation, not just owning doxies before.
You mom also needs to have $5000 in the bank to spend on the 8itch and her puppies. An emergency c-section can run $1000-$2000 and without it, the mom AND the pups will die. Shots, training, time off of work, illnesses, vet checks for the mom and the pups, health certifications, etc can run upwards of $500 a pup and $1000 for the mom.
Finalized vet checks typically can't happen until 2 years old. If the dog isn't being shown or she aren't involved with showing, then the dog should be spayed. While she may be a great pet, she probably isn't breeding quality. Dachshunds can have SEVERE medical problems and since this dog is not a breeding quality dog, it's is VERY LIKELY that she will pass some of these genetics onto future generations.
With estimates of 2-5 million animals being killed each year in shelters, only PROFESSIONAL and EXPERIENCED breeders should be breeding.
Prevent mammary and other cancers on your dog and get her spayed ASAP.
There is much more to know about breeding aside from how old the dog needs to be. That she doesn't even have a basic grasp on that, tells me that she should not be breeding the dog at all. AKC papers or being purebred is not a reason to breed. 25% of dogs that come into shelters are purebred. Doxie rescue places thousands of dogs nationwide. There is no need to contribute to that as a non-responsible breeder. Bad breeders are where ALL these homeless doxies come from.
Please, try to convince your mom that it is more trouble than it's worth and that you just want to have a happy and healthy dog - you don't want to risk losing her during birth and you don't want to turn her into a little puppy mill.

first of all, you should do a LOT more research on dog breeding, rather then just breeding her to the neibors dog and hoping all goes well. Take your girl to the vet and ask the vet if your dog is fit to be bred. is your dog from good lines? by breeding her, will you improve the daushund in some way? I know you dont want to hear this, but it must be said. and if you DO have a dog with good lines and the breeding will improve the breed in some way, then make sure the stud you get will do the same. there are so many dogs in shelters, think long and hard before you breed.

A puppy having puppies is never a good idea. It's irresponsible breeding, pure and simple.
A year is the very youngest a dog should be bred, but two years would be even better and help to insure the safety and health of both the mother and the pups. Being in a rush to breed is just asking for major complications and vet bills. You could lose both the mother and the pups. Even if, by a stroke of luck everything goes perfectly, the mother may not be emotionally ready at such a young age to actually take care of the pups.

A good breeder would not breed until a dog is 2 years old, she is just a baby herself It would be like a 12 year old child having a baby, and probably would not care for her babies properly which could result in the death of the litter and possibly her too

Are there a shortage of daschunds? Why are you breeding? Get your dog spayed. If you still want to be a back-yard breeder at least read some books on the subject and talk to your vet.

No dog should be bred until tow years old. that is when her bones don't need the nutrients that puppies will steal. dogs bred before two years old are the ones who have early bone disease, such as arthritis.
Dachshunds have so many bone health issues anyway, that they really need all the help they can get from their owners.
Ask you mom to please be kind, and hold off until the heat folowwing her second birthday.

ask your vet and get her a check up first. Also, breeding dogs when there are so many in the shelters is animal cruelty at its most selfish.

I would start breeding her at 1 year old. That should be a safe age.
