Then you're screwed. If you've already told them this....well...prepare to spend money on a lawyer and lose time at work because you'll be tied up incourt. The penalties? first time will be probably nothing. Financially....you're going to be working a lot of overtime to play catch up. An expensive lesson learned.

you can get charged with making a false statement to police which is a crime. If they wanted to push the issue you could get charged with obstruction of justice, also a crime.
It would be a bad idea anyway, chances are the police already know you weren't the driver. Secondly why would you want to protect somebody like that and ruin your life.
Not mention by covering for them, you would be condoning their actions. What happens the next time this f u c k h e a d gets a DUI and kills an innocent family, would you want to protect them then? This (_I_)hole needs to be punished for what they did.

you can actually end up with a worst charge than the DUI,
giving a false report, interfering with an investigation

In Canada you would get charged with obstructing a peace officer, I'm sure Florida has similar offences.
I hope that you didn't "help" out this impaired friend. I also hope the drunk driver doesn't do it again and hurt someone next week (wouldn't you like to have that on your conscience).

If they find out you can be charged with interfering with a criminal investigation. Also if your drunk friend who was doing the driving was weaving all over the road they can charge you (the "driver") with "reckless driving so as to endanger" and revoke YOUR license.

You can be tortured, killed and thrown into a landfill. That'll teach your sorry, unpatriotic, terrorist @ss, won't it?
I'm only kidding.
I suppose you could be charged with fraud, or making false statements to an officer of the law.
By the way, are you now, or have you ever been, affiliated with a known terrorist organization?
