The first symptom I had was blood in my urine. You will also have pain in your lower back where your kidneys are, different from muscle aches. When you start to pass it, you will know, it is a very painful ordeal and I would advise if you think you might have them, go see your doctor.
The best thing the doctors did for me was give me anti-nausea meds, the first bout I had, I was vomiting and dry heaving the pain was so intense.

if you have the following symptoms, you have kidney stone/s:
Sand in urine, pain in the region from front to back, urinary track infection, decrease in health
blood in urine when the stone shifts, chronic distension, you feel burning while urinating. Get the kidnies x-rayed and find the stone.

Extreme pain in your back or flank which can shoot down into your groin and can move as the stone moves, vomiting, you may have blood in your urine, and you may also have burning on urination.

Go for sonography test. Drink plenty of water before sonography and do not pass urine for better report.
