im 15 and i used to have pretty bad skin, i didnt have acne and my spots were just red dots rather than heads but after years of searching iv found that 'Boots Botanics Pore Perfecting Deep Clean Mousse' is really good, and my skin has greatly improved! I live in the UK so Boots is all over the place but I know that loads of pharmacies in the USA sell their products.
I would be careful using brands such as Clearasil as well by the way, it basically strips your skin which can leave it really dry and takes away all the natural oils. The Boots stuff is not expenisve at all...its like £3 which is roughly $6, don't be fooled into thinking that the most expensive brands are the best, but don't also think that a supermarket brand will work wonders for your skin :S
A few tips that I've picked up as well is to never touch your face! Especially if you've got long nails.....the dirt! Also, when you put on your mousturiser, just put on a little bit and then if you need more in 5 mins time put a little more on and so on. There's nothing worse than a big red shiney face! It also gives skin a chance to absorb the moisture, rather than it just lying on the skin. It's important to put on enough though, cos otherwise your skin will dry out and you will get more spots. One last thing as well.....don't use a toner unless you absolutely have to, some brands like Clinique are so strong they can actually strip paint...no joke lol!
Well i hope this helps....! xx

I've had the same problem but ever since I've started using clindamycin phosphate lotion (an antibacterial topical lotion) prescribed by my GP my acne has gone a lot better, even the marks are disappearing slowly. My advice to you is that please dont waste money on buying the expensive stuff that claims to do miracles!if you really want to treat your acne u've got to show it to your GP who can then prescribe oral (like tetracycline) or topical drugs. Most of the doctors say that b.peroxide is a bit harsh on the skin. Washing your face (with any decent fash wash) twice a day is good and make sure you don't touch your face when your hands are dirty. Don't try too many creams, foundations etc if you have got acne as it can sometimes make the acne go worse by blocking the pores even more instead stick to the tried and tested 'simple' mosturisers. Neutrogena lotion with salicyclic acid is good as well as it stops the pores from getting blocked. But you can not get anything strong until you see your GP.

Hi
Different types discussed here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acne
treatments:
http://www.besttreatments.co.uk/btuk/conditions/1000216879.html
There are several treatments that can help to clear up your acne. The treatment you have will depend on how severe your acne is.
Treatment can make your acne much better. But it can take about eight weeks to work.1 2
You can buy a treatment called benzoyl peroxide from a chemist. It comes as a gel or cream that you put on your skin.
Other treatments can be prescribed by your doctor. They come as gels, creams or tablets.
You may need to keep using your treatment for several months.
If one treatment doesn't help, your doctor will be able to suggest something else.
Getting treatment early can stop you getting scars.3 4
hope it goes away, i knew a freind who had it, he tried honey in wtare in teh mornings it clears your system ,and also had som amount of green shillie sin his diet, and gave up sweet food altogether.
godo look

I agree, maybe salycilic acid will work a lot better on you. Just the regular orange liquid Neutrogena acne foam wash works wonders.
Or try Retin-a micro. It's $20 if you've got insurance plus the company offers $10-20 rebates. Works SUPER great!

pro active is crap. Have you tried the neutrogena acne stres control. ? It has sylic acid instead of benzoyle proxide. my daughter and I are doing much better with it. if not that then a doctor maybe able to put you on penacillian. I had to do that for a bit. pretty hard to get a doctor to do it though. Those are really my only 2 suggestions if you have tried everything. And we like noxzema too.

Try this for acne:
Accutane-an antibiotic and Ziana- a new acne gel. See your dermotologist. Also wash face with cool or cold water, never hot. And never use scrubs or toners, they aggravate acne. Use a mild cleanser and mositurizer like Cetaphil, or Panoxyl Bar 10% Soap can be found at drugstores.
If you want to try an acne system, try Patricia Wexler MD acne line at Bath & Body. Its costs $50.00 for the starter kit, but you can return it if you dont like it. I love her products.
Best Wishes

I had BAD acne on my forehead and cheeks in high school.
I just started washing my face with antibacterial soap , patting it dry and then rubbed menthol alcohol all over. It dried up all the oil on my face that broke it out in the first place. Try it . It worked for me so maybe it could work for you.
PS- if your skin is naturally dry , use baby lotion to moisturize.
It doesnt clog your pores.
If it doesnt clear up, try Cetaphyl. It can be found just about anywhere.

Don't wash your face with a sponge while taking a shower--wash it afterwards with a wash cloth.
*Get a wash cloth from target or where ever. Buy aveeno positively radiant body wash----it says "helps even skin tone and texture" on the bottle. Pour a dime size of the aveeno on the washcloth and Wash your face two times a day---once in the morning and once in the evening.

For some people one particular treatment will work well, for others it won't.
One hint I have found to find the treatment that works for you without spending huge amounts is to take advantage of trials provided by the manufacturers.
