Stick with XP for now, Vista is a huge hardware hog and your laptop might even run worse with Vista. Plus, there are still bugs and still some drivers that don't support Vista yet. At least wait until SP1 comes out for Vista (which should be later this year).

Your purposes ought to paintings high quality below the two XP or Vista. you will in all probability get somewhat extra appropriate overall performance with XP, and while you're no longer prepared on Vista, pass forward with XP professional. extra importantly inspite of the indisputable fact that, a clean installation of the two XP or Vista will probably enhance overall performance. Laptops and pre-outfitted computers comprise a ton of pointless utility that drags down your overall performance. CS4 and Autocad ought to the two be high quality below XP or Vista.

it depends. Vista does require more resources, so if you are low on memory and have less than a core duo processor, i would stick with vista. if you have 2gb or memory and a core 2 duo processor, you'll have no problem whatsoever running vista.
