In addition to the facts that have been established:
1) That not everyone in the world changes their times for daylight savings.
2) That everyone recognizes that most of the US and Canada do change their clocks.
There are many other areas that do change clocks for an equivalent of this institution (in England it is referred to as Summer Time)
Time zones themselves are somewhat random, for example China has only one and India is UTC+5:30 This is much like what we are familiar with as GMT but is marginally adjusted for atomic clocks. Nepal is actually UTC+5:45.
I had to do some research into this for a development project and found some very interesting reading on these topics at:
There is also the fact that

The US (and some parts of mexico/canada) are the only places that observe daylight savings time. It was instituted during WW2 to give the dock and factory workers more daylight time to finish ships/vehicles, and we just never got around to getting away with it.

Well I live in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada and I changed my clock one hour ahead but my mom lives in a little town in British Columbia, Canada and they never change their time, also my boyfriends mom lives in a city in Saskatchewan, Canada and she never changes her time either.. so i'm guessing not everyone in the world changes times

Nope, in fact, there are small pockets of the United States that don't recognize it. Makes me think of that West Wing episode where Josh, Donna and Toby get stuck in the midwest while campaigning because they didn't realize the county they were in didn't recognize it and they missed their flight out as a result. Very amusing, but totally off topic. ;)

Not all countries change their clocks for DST. It is recognized that the US does it, but it's a pain.
In fact, it varies even within the US and Canada. Arizona and Indiana do not change, and neither does Saskatchewan.
