What a waste of pain! I got my hood pierced and it rejected. I couldn't catch it in time before it broke the skin. I didn't realize what was happening because it was not infected, I had no itching and it was there when I cleaned it this morning and last night. The broken skin is minimal to see (I dont look deformed), but will this skin grow back together? And should i get it repierced with a gold ring instead? How long should I wait to get it repierced? (the place that did it explained to me what happened and will repierce it with the gold ring if I want)
Do u think my body will reject the gold ring?

I did some research and the only way it can reject agin is if the guage is too small or big, and if the piercer dosent take enough tissue. Thats what I think happened to me. :-(

It does sound like the piercer didn't take enough skin. You could have also rejected the type of ring they used the first time so gold would be a safe bet for hypoallergenic reasons. When you go back remind them that it was rejected the last time and to make sure to use enough skin.
Of course, my husband (a body piercer), told me once that you never know when or why a body will reject a piercing. It could be something as simple as the fact that it's a foreign object in your body. So, good luck to you and remember, make sure they get enough of the skin in there!

I got the exact same piercing done and the first time I got it done, the skin looked like the j-ring ripped through it somehow but it healed quickly. It seemed as if they didn't put it under enough tissue to hold the piercing in. I had it done again and the piercer put it under more tissue that time and just a bit lower and my body rejected it a second time. Both times, the j-ring was made of surgical steel so I don't know if that made a difference or not. It wouldn't hurt to try a gold ring if you want to go through with it.

I don't think material has much to do with it. Most piercings are done with surgical grade stainless steel and the next best choice would be titanium. I personally am not a fan of using gold jewelry. I personally wouldn't go to the same place, but its your body. This piercing shouldn't reject easily unless it was done very poorly and with too small of a gauge.
Anyway, its hard to tell how you will heal since everyone is different. The tissue down there has plenty of blood flow so it will probably heal quickly and it shouldn't leave behind too much damage. Keep in mind there will be scar tissue there, so re-piercing may not be an option depending on the severity. I can't see the area to give you more or different information. But I would wait at least 3 months to ensure the area is FULLY healed before you re-pierce the area.

Ok i really don't have any advice on genital piercings personally i would never get one but if your piercer said that they can repierce, you need to ask them how long they think you should wait.
As for all the dumb people asking what a hood piercing is, obviously you don't know so you shouldnt be answering questions in this section. Yes i know some of you saw pop up on the home page but if you don't know what it is still don't fricken answer, it just makes you look rediculous.
Good Luck with getting repierced and yeah i have def heard that gold is better for gential piercings.

I would go to someone who will do it with a barbell instead of a ring, most hood piercing need a consult first, or at least thats how my piercer does it, he/she should measure you for jewelry and then order it to fit you!! Its possible that there was not enough skin there for a ring and they did it anyway or the person is set in their techiques. I would not go back to the same person!!! That is a waste of time money and pain!!! I'm so sorry you had bad piercing.....my condolances

I would go to see another piercer. The type of metal does not make a difference, you most likely didn't have enough skin pierced, or the gauge was too small. I would check around for a different piercer, and ask to look at photos of HEALED hood piercings that they have done.

I would use a captivebead ring. They are round and completly closed. Plus, when you go to clean it you can just turn it. Gold or steel all depends on what you like or what are allergic to.

Maybe it wouldn't get so infected if you would quit playing with it for just 2 minutes!
