the reason i think it was a corn cob is because the dog lived outside and it was very windy that week and some blew into her yard

I would guess she had something else wrong. An obstruction would usually cause loss of appetite, sometimes vomiting, no major bowel movements (or just going a very small amount at a time), and her stomach would probably be very skinny and her chest be larger not necessarily blood in the urine. If there was alot of wind and the dog was an outdoor dog she could have gotten into antifreeze or other poison (like rat poison) and could have been having problems for a long time and her owners just never saw it because she was outdoors. The blood in the urine is probably from her kidneys shutting down which could be from possible poison or maybe old age (you didnt say how old the dog was). There are soo many things that could have killed her but my guess is that she got into rat poison or antifreeze and she bled out internally. But I dont know for sure but that would be my best guess. I am sorry for your friends loss. I would see if there is any trace of antifreeze or poison in the area where the dog roams. Good luck

My dogs chew/eat corn cobs all the time..this would not cause this extreme reaction..since she was urinating blood I would guess kidney failure...could also be some very bad urinary infection, but I still suspect kidney failure.
take the pup to a vet for a necropsy and then do let us know the results..as I am curious.

A corn cob may have been an issue with a bowel problem, blocking her intestine, but not causing her to pee blood. It has to be something very wrong in her urinary tract...It could be poisoning or a disease..

It sounds like she may have had a bad urinary tract infection that spred to her kidneys. It would then cause kidney failure and the death of the dog. Blood in urine is often from a urinary tract infection, and it needs immediate medical care (from a vet).

The only way to find out for sure is to have an autopsy done.

Sorry for your friends loss.
