Two of my Uncles fought from Normandy to the end of the war...well they joined in early 42...isn't it amazing how great that generation was? Why can't my generation be like that?

I am so sorry for your loss. Your father was one of thousands of heroes who participated in the Battle of the Buldge. My father was there, too. He died nearly five years ago and I miss him very much. I always felt he was my link to history. He seldom talked about the war except when I asked specific questions. I do remember him saying that was the coldest winter anyone in Europe could remember and that the cold and snow were very hard on soldiers on both sides.

My maternal grandfather fought in the battle of the Bulge. He passed away in january of 2006. When he passed away he still had a very small piece of shrapnel in his leg from that conflict. He was an awesome man. I send my ondolences to you for your loss. they were all heroes!
