We have a 3 year old pitt bull, we keep her in our fenced in back yard, she has never gotten out. she has killed cats, squrrils or other small critters that have gotten inthe yard.
My daughter has a 11 week old husky that also stays in the back yard. this weekend I was awaken by our neighbor asking me if our dog was in the yard, that she thought it had gotten out and killed her little dog. I didnt see my dog at that time since i was running toward the house next door thinking my dog was there. Her dog had been attacked, when I went back to my house to see how they could have gotten out my dog was there but the puppy was gone, the only hole I found was a 4x4 hole in the back fence my pitt is about 80lbs. My question is it possible my pitt got out that hole for the first time in 3 years, went two houses down attacked a dog and returned back home thru the same hole?
the puppy was found 2 hours later coming from across the hiway on the other side

You think your pit kills cats and squirrels that husky will tear up the whole neighborhood and get everything it can. Huskies have the highest prey drive I have ever seen. They need extensive training to curb this. If you plan on keeping him outside I would certainly suggest reinforcing your fence and checking it daily. As the husky gets older it may decide it doesn't like the pit and hurt him too. You must have a professional trainer to work the prey drive!!! Huskies are the only dogs I will not bring in my house anymore. You can not break them of trying to eat the cats once they have grown up doing what they want.

of course it's possible...the hole is probably recent, since you never noticed it. You better do something to keep that dog in and other animals out. Because if your dog killed MY animal, I'd shoot it on the spot. You need to make the fence higher and put barbs on it so cats can't climb over, then dig down on the borders a foot or so and put down chicken wire or brick so they can't dig out. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Pits can be good dogs, but if she's aggressive and you don't handle it right, there will be more trouble. P.S. the guy talking about huskies has no clue what he's talking about...he clearly doesn't know animals well. I've been around all types and breeds of dogs my whole life and there is no such thing as a bad dog, only bad owners. And if you get a dog that has a history of aggression in the breed, the training needs to start young, not AFTER it starts causing problems.

Yes its very possible be very careful I have a two year old german shepard pitbull mix and one board of the fence broke its a small little hold she actually jumps thru it and then theres another hole in our neighbors yard she squeezes thru and she goes down the street. It's very possible just deny it unless they show proof cause it could of been something else. If it was your dog that attacked her dog be very careful of your little husky might not be able to protect itself from your pit for a few more months. I have two chihuahua's but my dog has a good temperment luckily. ALSO, it's normal about killing cats and squirrels that is how your dog locks it's jaw don't worry.. as horrible as it may seem it's actually the truth that's how it is gonna end up in the long run.

yes its very possible... the hole may look small but when they use all that muscle and probably pushed the fence up a little its so easy for them to get out. If shes cat aggressive shes probably dog aggressive. Sorry, I had a similar situation happen with my old pitt. She had to be put down after she went after a child and she was raised with the rest of my dogs since she was a baby, and was the only one to ever have a problem. If you dont get rid of her or put her down after this you can be forced to buy a permit from the city, in my city it was a $500,000 permit and then you have to build a special cage for dangerous animals and then the city has to inspect it, plus the dog is not allowed inside a house ever again b/c that is not considered a "confined" area, and is easily escapable. Also who knows what the neighbor could sue you for. It sucks b/c your dog is your baby but you have to also value everything you have and taking care of your family. A dangerous dog can lose that for you in a matter of minutes.

chances are that if your dog had attacked the dog , she wouldn't have been running back so in all likelyhood no ; but to avoid a lawsuit and something happening worse, keep an eye on your dog; no dog should be left unattended for their protection and others. Any dog no matter what kind is able to attack when circumstances prevail. No dog is immune to attacking when they interpret a danger to them or their environment so each and every pet owner needs to do the best they can to keep their animals under a watchful eye no matter big or small. I walk the parameter of my yard , fencing b/c they can dig out or something in ; I also try to check toys, locks etc just like you would a child for a safe environment.

it is possible i suppose as all things are possible, but it is not very likely that the dog would be in the fence fr three years and one day out of the blu decide to dig his way out and go two houses down and attack the ladies dog. it is possible that something else attacked her dog and knowing that you had a pitt bull she decided that that is what had attacked the little guy. i say this because she did not know whom or what else to blame. remember though that all things are possible. i have a pitt mixed with a lab and he has never tried to attack any of our puppies or their mother.

It was more likely that something else got that dog, I would just fill in the whole and keep an eye on the dog. Also you might want to be careful with leaving the two dogs together unattended. Pitts tend to get more aggressive around 4 years old.

yeah, they always say... oh our little baby would never hurt a fly. Until the cute little pittbull gets out and kills a kid. But it never killed kids before... she was such a sweet dog.
I don't know if your dog could squeeze through a 4x4 (inch I assume) hole, but 4x4 inches could give it a good start. Animals can squeeze through very tight spaces. rats can squeeze through holes that are just a little bigger than their head. I doubt your dog got out, but I hope this will prompt you to check and make sure the dog can't get out because if it has killed critters before, it will do it again given a chance.

For one, if you mean inches...then I doubt your dog got out that hole. My pit is about 73 pds and I know she wouldn't fit. For two..was the other dog bloody and tore up or did it have a broken neck or something...because if your dog wasn't bloody or anything..then you're dog is "innocent as charged"! Glad your puppy made it home ok. You got lucky. He could've been hurt or someone could've stole him.

It is possible. Pits are escape artists. From now on you should never leave your dogs unsupervised in the backyard. When you leave home you should keep them in a kennel, or some other confined area where they cannot escape or get into trouble.
