We can't open the hatch on our Jeep Cherokee and there is no inside latch. Does anyone know how we can get the thing open so we can repair it? Thanks!

well you have two choices take the paneling off to get to the latch or keep trying and it might pop mine used to do that and i kept trying while a friend shoved a screwdriver into the latch from inside. but you best bet either take as manny screws out of the panel as you can and try and grab the stick piece that goes from the latch the handle or break the panel off completely and adjust the stick piece so it doesnt happen again and buy a replacement panel either from junkyard or brand new.

Yes, you will need to get into the back of the jeep and remove the back panel. It will come off from the inside. once you get it open from the bottom you will be able to reach in and unlatch the lock and it will pop open. Had to do it to my jeep grand Cherokee and also the drivers side passenger door. When those electronic locks go you have a hell of a time getting them open.

Get a Haynes Repair Manual at the local Auto Zone or auto parts store in your area. It will troubleshoot and show you how to fix your vehicle. Also on the Auto Zone site has a section for vehicle maintenance

well you could take the panels off from the inside. I guess you are talking about the rear lift gate.

You can peruse the different sections. But buy the book.
