It is possible that the cradle of civilization is not Iraq, but Jerusalem, near the Mount of Olives.
Gen 2:8 The LORD God planted a garden toward the east, in Eden; and there He placed the man whom He had formed.
Gen 2:9 Out of the ground the LORD God caused to grow every tree that is pleasing to the sight and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Gen 2:10 Now a river flowed out of Eden to water the garden; and from there it divided and became four rivers.
Gen 2:11 The name of the first is Pishon; it flows around the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold.
Gen 2:12 The gold of that land is good; the bdellium and the onyx stone are there.
Gen 2:13 The name of the second river is Gihon; it flows around the whole land of Cush.
Gen 2:14 The name of the third river is Tigris; it flows east of Assyria. And the fourth river is the Euphrates.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note that the river flows out of Eden, and not the garden. Eden is a large area. You should be looking for four separate rivers which share a common water source within Eden.
The Pishon and Gihon are lost today. The land of Havilah is identified as Saudi Arabia by most biblical scholars. According to The Zondervan Pictoral Encyclopedia, Cush referred to a piece of territory lying between the second and thrid cataracts [large waterfalls] of the Nile (near Sudan and Egypt).
There is a huge underground spring that flows beneath the City of Jerusalem. Some think this water is the Gihon River.
Thus, the Garden of Eden was not in Iraq, but in Israel.

In Ezekiel 28, there is a reference to Lucifer's presence in the Garden of Eden and on the Holy Mountain of God
Eze 28:12 "Son of man, take up a lamentation over the king of Tyre and say to him, 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "You had the seal of perfection, Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.
Eze 28:13 "You were in Eden, the garden of God; Every precious stone was your covering: The ruby, the topaz and the diamond; The beryl, the onyx and the jasper; The lapis lazuli, the turquoise and the emerald; And the gold, the workmanship of your settings and sockets, Was in you. On the day that you were created They were prepared.
Eze 28:14 "You were the anointed cherub who covers, And I placed you {there.} You were on the holy mountain of God; You walked in the midst of the stones of fire.
The Holy Mountain of God is a direct reference to Mount Moriah in Jerusalem.

Actually when the would was first created all the land masses were joined together. They weren't separated until the days of Peleg way back when. The Tigris and Euphrates could have been anywhere and not necessarily in Iraq.

The Bible never refers to this area of the world as "holy ground". God actually prevented early man from re-entering "Paradise", the Garden of Eden, traditionally believed to be in the land of Mesopotamia, after Adam and Eve sinned. Eventually this area was completely resurfaced by a worldwide flood (Gen 6), which is why if you were to search this entire region you would find no "Paradise". The only "holy land", from the Bible's perspective, would be that of Israel. God considered their land "holy" because He gave it o them as a reward/inheritance--they received this land because their forefathers refused to worship idols but served the true God. Israel was the only monotheistic nation and so God gave them their land as a special gift. The land of Iraq may be considered "holy" by other religious groups, but Christians and Bible believers have never considered it so.

Paradise, the Garden of eden, etc are all in the Kingdom of Heaven; which is within!
Iraq is no more a "Holy Land" than America is in the sense that the Earth was created by God. Thus, we ALL live in the Holy Land!

The original rivers Tigris and Euphrates were swallowed up and buried by the Flood. There is no possible way that they can exist currently. After the Flood, rivers in modern Iraq may have been named after them, but the original rivers are buried under hundreds of feet of debris.
