For a town like Chicago that is a great deal. I have to agree with the other poster though and I'd be a lil wary. Is it a one man show? You probably need a photographer with an assistant with over 200 people at the wedding.
Like many others I didn't have a videographer b/c it was so expensive. I just had a photographer. I interviewed 3 of the cheapest I could find and went with the middle at $2,500. I live in the south--NC so things should be cheaper than in Chicago.
Make sure you really work this all out. I'm worried you are stressing a couple years too early about this wedding. How many years has the photographer been in business? Worried he/she might go out of business in the next 2 yrs? How many hours is that contract for? What about for an "extra hour" if you decide you need it? Does your photographer do more than one wedding in a day? Did you look through the books of previous pictures and liked the photographers style? If a photographers does a very formal style with a lot of posed pictures, he isn't likely to be able to capture more candid shots for you. Which do you prefer--formal or candid?
My only concern about going with someone so inexpensive is that if you hate the photos you can't get a replacement. I'd make sure I'd review that contract a few more times. Often the price is low b/c they quote you for 4 hours--but usually they get there 30 min early you do. Thats often 2 hrs before the wedding. Ceremony, drive time, thats not leaving much time at all at the reception.
I'd ask a lot of questions but perhaps you just found someone who has a great deal. And in which case congratulations! Good luck and I know it will be a beautiful Vday wedding.

particularly than answer your question straight away may I make a training? Why no longer employ professional kit. Calumet and different Photographic kit condominium agencies will employ you a superb form of video cameras for some funds an afternoon. it may be worth searching at. the fee may be charged to the customer and tax alleviation may be claimed adverse to the employ fee (In some countries) I actually have finished this a number of circumstances and at the same time as getting a wedding ceremony booking, I e book the employ of a digicam i have used in the previous because i'm used to it. Many cameras are finished HD, perfect HD no longer the 'pretend' HD of shopper camcorders.

It probably depends on where you're from, but I live in CA and around my hometown, the best photographers (not even video included) go for around $4,000! So to me that sounds like a great deal. Remember pictures are what last from the day, so if you're paying more for one part of the wedding, make it the photos.

That sounds good to me. It depends on the packages. If the videographer is including the ceremony and reception and you're getting a selection of pictures, it's a great price. My video alone cost $1400!

I would definitely say Yes. We actually received a quote from a guy that would do it for $2000 also, but he was a 1 man show. He himself did the video and photo. I decided that to get the best pics and video we needed to have more than 1 photo/video person. So we are paying $3200 for both the photo and video.

Sound cheap to me.. my photographer alone is 2270,00.00 and the video woud have been at least another 2 grand which is why we skipped it. Our photographer was the cheapest we could find that was still good and proffesional in our area NJ. Some wanted as much as $4,000!!!

My husband and I did not have any photographer during our wedding, BUT we bought whole bunch of disposable cameras and asked our guests to take pictures. After "the show" we collected those cameras and I have to say our guests did very well.

that actually sounds pretty good especially if you like his work. I know places that charge more than that for pictures. Just make sure you shop around and if thats the best price for your budget go for it.
