Do not get your ear cartalage pierced at Claires. They use a gun for that which can irritate the skin and cause an overgrowth, and you'll have a bump on your ear for the rest o your life. Go to a professional piercer, it may cost more but you won't get severe scarring. They should use a needle, not a gun. So good luck, and hopefully it turns out okay.

From what I remeber they don't do the top of your ear. They might of started doing it now though. But don't get it done at Claires, they aren't proffesionals and it could lead to infection or them getting it wrong. I've learnt this from experience after i got my ears pierced and one of the girls got the machine stuck in my ear and it was literally hanging off my ear!

Go to a reputable proffesional shop where they specialise in piercings. Make sure you check out the place and the people are friendly and the place is clean. Even places which specialise in piercings can be dodgy. Good luck.

Do not get the top of your ear pierced at Claire's.

Cartilage should NEVER be pierced using a stud gun, which is what Claire's use. Professional piercers won't even use stud guns on ear lobes!

Go to your local professional body piercing studio and have them pierce your ear properly. It should cost about £10. They will use gloves, sterile disposable needles and have had proper training!

Not much!! But please, I beg you, do not get the top of your ear pierced using a gun at claires (which is what they use) or any beauty salon for that matter!! If you do you will end up with an unsightly lump at the back of the piercing. Get it done properly from a professional piercer using a needle!! The end result will be so much better. No lump at the back of the ear!!

I agree with everyone else that's answered so far: You shouldn't get ANYTHING pierced with a gun, a reputable piercer wouldn't do it. And those mall shops are breeding grounds for any infection you can think of....heard of MRSA? No better place to pick it up. Find a good piercing shop, some tattoo places employ proessional piercers, and won't cost much more than a crappy place.

You purchase the earrings...i believe they start off at $10 and you pay 2.50 for the piercing (piercing is only free when the lobe is pierced). It does not get infected unless you dont properly care for it. I should know, I used to work there and I did about a million piercings.

This would depend on what part of the US you live in. Clare's prices vary from store to store. Whatever the price is for regular piercing is what it would be for top of the ear, side of your ear or any place on your ear. Prices do vary though when it comes to belly, tongue or other parts of the body.

Don't get the piercing done at Claire's or any place using a piercing gun.

I strongly suggest that you look for a reputable piercer in your area. safepiercing.org is a good place to go to look for a piercer, if you can't find someone there, do a Google search for tattoo parlors in your area.

About $20, not counting the ear ring. I would go to a professional at a tattoo parlor. It is more safe and sterile. Plus, there is alot of more cute jewelry. :)
