The venue we had originally chosen, our church's hall, is now telling us that they will not allow dancing of any knd at the reception! The wedding is in two months, and we are working with a really tight budget. Does anyone have some feasible suggestions for an awesome reception venue in Southern California that is easy on the wallet and still availible for a May 19th booking?

Do you know anyone with a large backyard?

Check out hotels with meeting rooms in your area. We're having a reception 6 miles from the wedding ceremony, and we rented the meeting room all day for only $100.

Sorry but Southern California covers 500 miles in 4 directions, can you be more specific? Do you mean Los Angeles or San Diego? Also, you don't specify how many people you need space for.

You should have known or at least suspected that most churches would not allow dancing or alcohol consumption. You may have a tough time booking an awesome place.

Any lodge like Eagles, Moose,VFW. Look for a banquet facility. Even some schools will rent their gym out.

Ask friends and family members--yours and your fiancee's--because you never know who has connections with who. Or find a nice park (if you're willing to have the ceremony outside). My night-time candlelight wedding was held on a youth camp ground inside the cafeteria and turned out to be absolutely beautiful.

You might also want to consider Club Houses at local neighborhoods. Most have hardwood floors and soundsystems already in place.
