Laser eye surgery is very safe nowadays. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges Laser surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Fly2india4health Consultants. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. I have also read that they arrange financing for international patients, as all surgery is not covered by insurance or by the stinking NHS.
They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor I personally believe that your Dental surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of Healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.
My cousin got her Dental surgery done there and she is more than very happy with the results. She is all praise for Fly2india4health Consultants. She paid just 20% of the cost what she was quoted in USA and it was like a wonderful vacation for her. Hope this helps

I got it done for both of my eyes. It is not painful as we would be given anaesticia before the surgery. However, you may experience a slight pain when you were given the anaesticia as it is injected to your eye lids. If you bear that pain (for about few seconds), you can happily proceed for the surgery.
You wll still feel the pessure on the eye that something is being done on it. Also, you will be uncomfortable for about few minutes when they put a clip that keeps your eye-lids open during the surgery.
You will see what is being done on the eye for about 5 minutes. Afterwards, it blacks out for the rest of the surgery. It took only about 20 to 25 minutes for my surgery.
For the first 3 das, you will feel discomfort with your eyes watering and blurring. In about 4 days from the surgery, the vision gets improved and you will get perfect vision in another few days (total about 7 to 9 days)
Its painful to think than getting it done.
Go for it Stacey!

My wife had it done last year. They only had to cut one eye and the other had the laser work without cutting. They gave her a valium ( as they do with everybody ) and she was fine. She said it didn't hurt and everybody that has had it done that we know has said the same thing, and they have all said how pleased they were about having got it done.
You should be able to talk to the surgeon doing it before making the decision to put any fears you have to rest.

i had it done 4 years ago and it doesn't hurt, when the procedure has been done it feels like you have a dry contact lens in, they give you pain killers and eye drops to rehydrate the eyes......best thing i ever did !
The only thing that shocked me was the smell of the laser it smelt of burning but it was over within 10 mins.
Talk to a consultant and then ask lots of questions !

Lasik involves cutting the front of the eye, lasEk uses ethyl alcohol to melt away the front of the eye.
Don't choose your surgeon based on price. Get a referral from your optometrist, as they'll have to deal with any problems you may be left with. Some surgeons will be happier to operate on 'difficult' cases, while others will consider this taking your money and having a bash. Discuss all of your concerns with your optometrist, and again with the surgeon. If they are reluctant to operate, just accept this and try contact lenses.

there is a new way they do it called intralase. The flap is created with a laser instead of a razorblade. Its way more money that way, heals a bit faster.

My friend had it done but they didnt shave his eye. He look at a light for 5 min and it was done. There is no pain involved and he would do all over again. You wont regret it.
