conocer a alguien.

When you meet someone, you would say "Mucho gusto conocerte" which means "I am very glad to meet you." Techincally, "conocer" means "to know", but they use it in the context of "to meet."

So, to meet a person is "conocer a una persona".

To meet somebody for the first time = Conocer a alguien.
E.g.: Nice to meet you = Gusto en conocerte.

To meet somebody you already know = Encontrarse con alguien.
E.g.: I'll meet you there = Nos encontramos allá.
