Bokhurim literally means bachelors. It refers usually to young men in their teens. Someone older than that who is not married is called an Alter Bokher. (Older Bachelor) I imagine the times are up to keep the young men from mixing with the women.

Kehilla meens community and is used in several senses. A kehilla can mean the community, as in all the Jews of the neighborhood or a certain synogogue. It can also meen a particular sects devotees. The Belz kehilla, for example, would be all those Jews in the world (or neighborhood) who follow Judaism according to the Chasidic traditions of the town of Belz, Poland. In the case of your sign it is asking that all like minded Jews keep their sons from shopping at the wrong time, and ask their wives to not go during young men's hour.

Hefker means ownerless property that a person can take with him and not be guilty of stealing. That sign is the most interesting. It is a very common sign, and a very bad one according to Judaism; though lots of otherwise good people put it up.

The property owner is saying other people's stuff that's left on his property for 30 days will become ownerless and be permitted for others to claim. The problem is that according to Jewish law, certain items with identifying marks cannot become hefker. It doesn't matter how many signs somebody puts up. Items that can become hefker become hefker automatically without a sign.

Religious Jews will keap a little corner in the house or under the bed for those items which can never become hefker that they find in synagogue or somewhere Jews frequent mostly. The law according to Judaism is that for those items one must advertise he found them, and if nobody claims them or identifies the distinctive mark, he has to keep them until Elijah the Prophet comes and says whose they are.

These rules are found in the Talmud, in a book called Baba Metzia.

It's a lie. It's a bunch of evangelicals who absurdly claim to be "jewish" then preach many concepts is against Judaism, Christ being the messiah for example. This group of deceitful liars are doing it solely to discredit Judaism and to convert them to xianity. Real Jewish people would NEVER try to convert anyone. The bottom line is: There is no way a Jew could ever be a xian and there is no way an xian could ever be a Jew. EDIT Judaism is NOT a race...that is a bigoted Nazi notion! Any person can convert to Judaism and once a person accepts Christ they are no longer a Jew. I hope Paperback answers this question because she can really take on these "messianic christian" claims! EDIT: DS M Being born into a religion is different than calling it a race. I can't suddenly become Asian (or any other race for that matter) can I? No, of course not. However, If I wanted to I can become Jewish. You can change your religion but you can not change your race. "There are Jews that are xians"...well now no matter what you say...it's a load of tosh since you can't seem to get this simple concept that you can be one or the other but not both. Also...Hitler wasn't the first and he won't be the last idiot to say that.

answer: that they are deceptive Christians. No Jew believes in Jesus as the Messiah - once someone does, they become a Christian, they are no longer Jewish. Being Jewish is not a race - anyone can convert to Judaism, you can't change your race. Hitler's insanity has a long shelf-life apparently - a madman and Christians don't get to decide who is a Jew and who isn't. "Jews for Jesus" were founded by Baptist minister with the intention on deceiving Jews into converting. Members are taught how to trick Jews and be deceptive. Other "Messianics Jews" are either intentionally ignorant of Judaism and think they can twist Jesus into Jewish rituals and holy days and call themselves Jews or they're unaware of how they are harming both religions. Christianity is incompatible with Judaism - the beliefs are contrary to each other. Jesus was a Jew, that doesn't mean Christians are Jews or "perfected Jews" - they believe Jesus was divine - that makes them Christians. A Jew would never believe in someone other than G-d.
