you will get the best rate by buying Traveler checks and exchanging them here for baht, this is the highest rate your get, It's only about 35.05 baht to dollar as of yesterday, and was about 35.55 a week ago. you will get a lower rate for smaller bills.

It appears to be a 5-7 percent difference. You're right xrates.com say 32.91 and the bangkok Post is saying 35.16.

When I travel to Thailand I usually take a look at the Bangkok Post before I leave and it's close to what I see when I arrive. These days, the exchange rate has been so volatile that it is scary.

If you plan on going to thailand exchange your money at the airport. The exchange rate is usually 2-5 percent better rate than you would get in the malls exchange booths. Though ONE time and one time only did I see a better rate at a currency exchange booth in MBK center in Bangkok. You will see that you get from .50 baht or more less baht per dollar in the mall currency exchange booths.

Why? Most people do exchange some money if not all the money they are going to use in the Airport. I do that since most hotels, discount the money by 10 percent. If it's 35 baht, the hotels will sell at 32 baht or so.

Definitely check the front page of the Bangkok Post website for the current exchange rate. It's in the right column somewhere, sometimes it's high and sometimes it's low.

Good luck

No way - The worst place to change dollars is in Thailand. all the banks have charges for everything including making a deposit or withdrawing money from your thai bank account.
The best way is to have an ATM card and go to any of millions of atms and withdraw your dollars in Bhat directly. If you muct come to Thailand with money make it 50 dollar bills and just a few becsue you get less for 20's and 10's then bring the rest in trems of travellers checks.
I have lived in Thailand for over five years and have come and gone to over 60 countries - I am in China now - but will go back with my Thai wife shortly. I will have an ATM froma CHinese bank and withdraw my RMB in Thailand in trems of Thai bhat where I get the best exchange rate. If you need a few cents per hundred dollars more use Kasikorn Bank for exchanging but they are really all the same.

It depends on the days u exchange ur currency. But bear in mind, its rather cheap to spend in Thailand, food & transport.Unless u plan to spend a tad more on accomodation, then u'll need more. But the currency rates doesnt make much difference if u change bit by bit, only when u change in a lump sum.Plus if u change ur currency at a popular tourist spot, they prolly wont give u any "special" package.Sometimes u can bargain for them to give u a higher rate if u were to change a certain sum.Best u change a lil , lets say 30% of wot u plan to bring, coz u'll need it for transport to hotel by cab or tuk-tuk.And tipping the bellboy ,cab driver etc.U can always change more ( if u shud need more ) later at the hotel or a currency exchange. As the thai baht is rather weak, u can practically live like a king there.Good Luck
