I started getting this bump under my right armpit. I went to the doctor and he said that it was a piece of breast tissue (pretty much like another one there just minus the nipple) and he explained that that is why it becomes sore right before my period begins.
He said that i could choose to take it off or not. So far I actually havent. I was wondering .......
first...............could that really be the case?

......................If i take it out will it grow again?

......................If i take it out and i take pills to grow my
breasts does that mean it will grow back?

......................If i get pregnant will it grow too? Will it be
troublesome then? Can i even take it out
then? Can u have any kind of surgery while
pregnant?

.......................Is that why my right breast is smaller?

A very interesting question. I know of a guy who ended up with cancer on the armpits from prolonged use of antiperspirant /deodorants. Another cause for that bump might be an ingrown hair. I used to get them often. If it indeed it's some form of breast tissue, as the doctor suspects. I would go for a second opinion esp an oncologist. Then, it should be taken out biopsied. Early diagnosis for breast cancer has better prognosis. If indeed, it's cancerous, it would grow again unless you go for a bout of radiation or chemotherapy. I strongly stress this fact as I know of a lot of women whose cancer came back more ferociously; w/out undergoing for radiation or chemotherapy. However, if it's benign, such as a cyst; chances are, it won't grow again.

There are modern surgical procedures now called lumpectomy which is not debilitating as the radical one as less breast and pectoral (chest) muscles are taken out.( resected) This allows for free range of motion of the right arm. Radical mastectomy, although effective for cancer, renders the woman with limited range of motion.

Both breasts normally, are asymmetrical . The dominant side is usually a tad bigger. Therefore, if you're right-handed, the right breast would tend to look bigger. If you're pregnant, I would not advise breast surgery (any surgey for that matter) for the safety of the baby. Anesthesia, steroids and esp chemotherapeutic drugs for cancer are all cytotoxic. Besides, your hormones are out of whack during pregnancy, anyway. This accounts for this cyst or growth during your menstural periods. That's why breastfeeding and pregnancy are two deterrent factors against cancer. The clinical picture for any illness or disease is compromised.

Birth control pills are attributed to cause breast cancer. Again, if it turns out that you indeed have breast cancer.... I strongly recommend going for radiation or chemotherapy after the surgery. Your chances of remission is greater. If it's benign, in all likelihood, the cyst won't come back again even for subsequent pregnancies. However, I strongly suggest you get off the use of antiperspirant, and the BC to further exacerbate your problems. You should also have proper tests done to make sure that your ovaries and uterus are cancer-free. A blood test that is known as CA-125 (it's like the PSA test for men for prostrate cancer) would indicte this.

Currently, there are no known products, such as creams or any pills for breast enhancement. The only method available is by pregnancy, breastfeeding, and vigorous pectoral muscles exercises such as the wing breast strokes. Even at that, that is a long stretch. The only way is thru breast augmentation surgery which is quite common nowadays. I, myself had that done.; along with abdominal tuck.

I hope I answered all of your questions and enlightened you with the appropriate information. Again, I reiterate, go for a second medical opinion, esp from an oncologist to rule out cancer. It would certainly behoove you to have that peace of mind. You dont need additonal stress in your life esp when you are pregnant.

Remember, you need to make an informed decision.

Were you born with this bump? I would suggest you go for a second opinion. I have gotten bumps before and it has always been one of two things, using an antipersperant. It stops you from sweating under your arms, but clogs the glands causing painful swelling. When I get an infection such as strep sometimes my lymph node get swollen. also under the arm. Dont let this doctor scare you without cause, every women unless the breasts are fake have one breast smaller than the other.

If the doctor removes it correctly it shouldn't grow back. All those other questions you should talk with about your doctor though. S/he's the only person who will be able to give you the right answer.
