This is what I want to do: my walls are white and i want to sponge paint the top half of the walls a pinkish purpleish color, then there is oak trim half way down, then i wanted to paint the bottom part a daker color? or should I leave it white? any tips? or color ideas?

I wouldnt leave the bottom white if anything I would reverse the coloring. white on top colored on the bottom.

But since you are sponge painting the top I would recommend a solid color maybe a little darker depending on room size and amount of light. Also consider the color of the toys you are putting in the room. Children tend to be more excited by brighter colors.

Paint the bottom portion either pink or purple. Children love stimulating colors so make it fun. You can also stripe the lower half using the 2 colors if you want more pattern and visual stimulation. Don't leave it white, and remember to use a semi-gloss so the walls are easy to clean.

A deep burgundy would look awesome and be a sharp contrast to your lighter top half yet still coordinate with the colors you have chosen.

I would do either pink or purple that is contrasting to the colors you already used....don't leave it white. another idea is to wallpaper the bottom half.

You can paint pink (or purple) stripes below trim. Make the stripes kind of thick. That would look cute.

Just make sure that you BLEND the parts that you sponge... otherwise it'll look tacky.
