I may be answering my own ? here .I have just heard that the groomer has 20 yrs experience & the owners say she was crying when she found out the dog had died . She told them she gave him a doggie treat so he would get acustomed to her. Then clipped him & put him in tub to wash .At one point I believe she pinched gland in anal region which is normal don't ask me why ........Now I hear that you don't pinch in younger dogs that 1/1000 die from it they vein or veins burst & he bled internally Maybe I will get a vet answer or groomers outlook on this .No abuse or the such was present the vet said the dog didn't seem hurt but another vet said it would of been good to do an autopsy then they would know the exact cause of death . owners had bought him because there older cocker spaniel had passed away before xmas they are devasted Thanks for the answers & if they thought there was abuse they would of gone to police right away

The only real way to tell is to have an autopsy performed on the dog. You can't blame the groomers. They did the right thing by calling to inform the owners first as it was company policy. And its also standard policy to call the owner and inform them, and then take the dog to the vet in case of an emergency. Or I am not sure if this was in fact the case at this particular company but it was where I worked. I don't know why they even let the owners take the dog to the vet! That dog shoudl have never left that shop without a store employee taking their full responsibility since it happened there. That was a waste of time to me, when that dog could have been half way to the vet or already there. The groomers are suppose to be able to handle this kind of thing. And the dog may have seen the vet the day before and been perfectly fine, but the only sure way to tell, is to pull the dogs medical history in the records. He could have had some underlying medical issue (i.e. a puppy mill dog, or not had all its shots) and it just took a turn for the worst. A lot of puppuies get out into the world and they haven't had all their sets of shots yet, and they catch something and get really sick and sometimes des as a result. One thing people also don't realize when they bring their dog to a groomer, is they dog will be experiencing hightened stress accompanied with heat beat increase, other dogs around, barking dogs, and not to mention the process which they all dislike-- baths! Also groomers will clip the toenails in which they have to touch its feet, clean ears, and if they have hair on paws and under them they will get that trimed\\shaved down, and if they are getting a hair cut they will have to experience the clipper noise on their bodies. All of which can be very scary if they are not use to it Most dogs just cannnot handle it--Older dogs, dogs with health issues, little puppies who are not use to it, ect. I would think surely if theat dog that died were behaving funny, they someone who was properly checking on all the dogs there whould have noticed it, and stopped grooming it. Informed the owner, and recommended the dog to a vet for sedative grooming which would have gotten the dog there and then they would have caught the problem sooner. At 4 months old thats just too young in my opinion to clip hair. I wouldn't even start clipping hair until 6 months old when dogs brains are more fully developed and they can handle the stresses of grooming. Of course its ok to start getting the dog use to baths, playing with their feet and ears to get then accustomed to gettng these body parts handled. Personally, I think the dog may have not been able to handle the grooming process, got stressed and had itself a rise in blood pressure, and resulted in heart attack. So sad. Owners really need to research these things before exposing a dog to a place like this. Especially because some salons requirte certian shots that dogs need to have before the come. I wouldn't even take a dog that young for a hair cut only just a quick bath. An in and out kind of thing so as to not stress the dog out any more than it already is.

You should have the vet perform a necropsy, find out exactly what killed the dog. If it was not a natural cause, health problem, disease etc, then go to the police. You don't want to give the groomer any thing to be able to use against you if you do take them to court.. Going over there and threatening etc will just end up in them calling the police on you.

So sorry for the dog. They were at the vet with the dog..Why not ask the vet this question..That would have been the smartest thing to do instead of asking that question here. In order for them to do something to the groomer or even blame the groomer they are going to have to get a medical report from the Vet. anyway..

i think of we are all agreed that groomers do no longer and can't sedate pets. there grew to become right into a time, probable 30-40 years in the past that it grew to become into an rather basic prepare. All that being pronounced, between the wonderful issues you're able to do to your canines is to softly touch his paws, ears or maybe his mouth. try this during circumstances which you're the two comfortable. If he enables you to, attempt purely rubbing his feet. permit him learn how to associate this comfortable touch with something good, high quality time with you. while he pulls away do no longer grab a paw and demand. a couple of minutes or seconds, right here and there throughout the day. I oftentimes turn my floppy eared canines ears interior out and purely gently rubdown around the hollow to the ear. wager you're questioning why the ears, mouth and paws. ordinary...your vet, vet tech, groomer will all be indebted to you for having a canines that would not might desire to be constrained or muzzled for ordinary remedies or grooming. If a vet ought to deliver you domicile with ear drops, you do no longer desire it to be a conflict to medicate your doggy. in case you are able to open your canines mouth then that's that lots extra handy for the vet to do a speedy dental examine. at the same time as I do take my canines to the vet for manicure, they have an inclination to take the doggies interior the back so I in no way get to verify if that's a tribulation for them. i've got been going to Petsmart as they'll drill the nails down for a real looking fee. My canines have been experienced to make eye touch with me by making use of making use of the "watch me" command. So the groomer will placed the canines on a table the place i will use that command and settle the canines down for them. So in straight forward terms some techniques that would help. purely keep in mind that trimming a canines nails would not might desire to be significant trauma for the canines or you!

Owners would have to have the vet to perform a necroscopy(autopsy) to determine to cause of death only then would they be able to prove if the groomer was responsible for the death of the puppy, it is possible it may have fell off the grooming table.

My condolences to the owner, what a terrible tragedy!

Have the vet perform a necropsy to see what killed the dog. As others have said, someone could have dropped the dog, or it could have fallen off the table. Another possibility is poison. If the dog ingested certain chemicals (bleach, Pine-Sol, Rat Poison or Bug Spray), this can cause internal bleeding.

Have an autopsy

The dog could have easily eaten something at home and went to the groomers and gotten sick.

Got to find the cause before you go suing anyone....

Could possibly be a toxin like rat poison (causes internal bleeding) or could be IMHA (immune mediated hemolytic anemia) a disease seen often in cockers, although not usually at that young of an age.
