Canman ~

In my opinion, it depends how Freddie Roach trains Oscar. It has been rumored for years that Oscar is, in his mind above criticism of any kind and doesn't like being told what to do. The trainer says "You should run now." Oscars says "Later can't you see I'm busy." the trainer says "Oscar, you need to work on strengthen your stomach" Oscar says "I have a six pack, I don't need to." Some Boxing-writers even suggest that this is why he's been through so many trainers in the past 6 years. His success has gone straight to his head.

Freddie Roach needs to take a page from Gilberto Reyes notebook. Gilberto Reyes was the man responsible for Julio Cesar Chavez destruction of Floyd's uncle Roger. Roger and Floyd have very similar styles although Floyd's hand speed is much faster and Gilberto knew that the only thing that mattered was the left hook to Roger's body. Over and over again Chavez landed the left hook to Rogers right side. If you can get the tape of this bout watch it.

If Oscar lands the left hook as he should it would be key to him beating Floyd. All of Oscars power is in his left hook because he is a converted southpaw, meaning he was originally a left handed fighter, but his father Joel switched him at a early age.

If Oscar tries to outbox the much faster and elusive Mayweather he losses. If this fight takes place in the center of the ring, Oscar losses. If Oscar doesn't cut the ring off, he losses. There is only one way Oscar can win this fight and that's to rough up the arrogant Mayweather the same way Jose Luis Castillo did in his first fight against Mayweather. Oscar needs to keep the smaller Mayweather on the ropes and punish Floyds body unmercifully. If he does this, he stops Floyd inside of ten rounds if not, Oscar Losses.

Thanks for the question Canman.

Mayweather is a 2 to 1 favorite over de la Hoya if you go to any sports book. That means Mayweather should have about a 67% chance of winning the bout statistically speaking. If you disagree, then you can get rich betting on it in Vegas.

I personally also agree that Mayweather is going to win, although I like de la Hoya much better as a boxer and a professional. Mayweather is going to run around and rely on his defensive genius while the Golden will do his best to cut off the ring but will only be able to win about 4 rounds.

This is early March. The fight isn't until May. I have answered this question 4-5 times probably more. In the beginning I said DeLaHoya would win by decision because he has gotten so many close decision victories in the past--he got a few not as many as I originally thought. Then I felt that Mayweather would win by close decision because he will move all night landing enough punches to win more rounds. My opinion now as stated the last two times I've answered this is that Mayweather will win by close decision because of the movement and landing more punches but if DeLaHoya can get to Mayweather several times each round slowing him down toward late in the fight Mayweather is in trouble. So my prediction is Mayweather by close decision.

Great question. This is how I see it panning out...

This fight comes with a lot of risk for Floyd, as he could potentially be knocked out. Although he probably won't admit it, Floyd has to be wary of Oscar's punching power, and will be training to counteract and nullify that.

I, however, don't think Floyd will be knocked out.

Floyd has the superior speed, and I think he will use it to run from Oscar. Floyd has said in press conferences that he will not run from Oscar, but then again, he said he would knock out Baldomir in 5 rounds.

Also, De La Hoya has proved everything he has to in boxing. Mayweather has yet to, on account that he hasn't been severely tested yet. Up to this point, he's just been too good for everyone.

Not many people expect Floyd to win, but I think Floyd will be wary/ scared of De La Hoya's power, and will show. Floyd will box from a distance, and pot shot and counter punch his way to a split decision win over De La Hoya.

There is NO way in hell that Mayweather knocks out Oscar. Mayweather is moving UP to 154. Oscar has fought there before. Mayweather hasn't knocked anyone out at 147, what makes you think he'll knock out the best BOXER, not fighter, he has ever faced at a weight that he's never fought at?

Oscar is still one of the best complete BOXERS in the world (that is defense, power, and finishing ability). Floyd has crazy skills, ut he has bever faced anything like this, especially under these circumstances. Also, remember that Vegas is an Oscar city. That crowd is goign to be behind him, not Floyd.

De La Hoya has been underdog in much of his last fights. He is in declining status but he has surprised all of us lately. Bottom line, De La Hoya has seen more grueling fights than Mayweather, so I based on experience I would give my vote to De La Hoya. De La Hoya is training harder than he has before. It will be De La Hoya's capstone fight of his career. If he wins this one, he can hands down retire and the legend will forever be remembered.

Mayweather hands down. Dela Hoya has seen better days. His best boxing is behind him.
