Hi I'm having a really bad flare up of my acid reflux even though I'm on Nexium 40 mg a day with mylanta inbetween 5 times a day.The chest pain , lump in my throat and burning is driving me crazy, I can't have coffee, milk , soda, juice, tea. Is water the only thing left?Would some of you other suffers comment what you can eat and drink without setting your acid reflux in a tail spin?

I probably can't be much help, but I suffer the same way. Just last night I woke up with what seems like a cold and acid reflux at the same time! My throat was killing me! Since then it's gotten better.
But the first time I realized I had a problem like GERD I was very concerned. However, after staying on prevacid for a long time, it eventually faded. Now it just comes back every so often. Here lately it is worse, but I'm still fighting it.
As far as what you can eat or drink, definitely water. It seems like water even bothered me some, but it was probably just when it went by the tear in my esophagus. I've just read that you should eat mild foods and drink things without caffeine and alcohol in them. Good luck!

Chronic heartburn is usually from acid reflux - stomach acid is getting past the little valve and into your esophagus. You also should know some natural ways to treat your heartburn. Learn them here https://bitly.im/aMGzy
The most immediate thing you can do is to stop drinking coffee and cola. Smoking is not good either, but that might be harder to stop. Don't over-eat. Don't lie down too soon after eating. Don't burp too much - this carries acid up with the burp.
heartburn the most common symptom of acid reflux disease (also known as gastroespohageal reflux disease, or GERD). Heartburn feels like a burning pain in the center of the chest. It is caused by acid from the stomach backing up into the esophagus. is a symptom of acid reflux disease (GERD) Also known as Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease

Water always seems to aggrivate my acid reflux just as much as the acid in coffees, teas, etc. Soy milk has been a life saver - vanilla flavor is very good in cereals too! Also look for the low acid orange juice. Yogurt is good as well - the bacteria in it is actually GOOD for your stomach. Try making smoothies using yogurt instead of milk. Oddly enough when I was in the hospital for a severe flare up I drank cherry 7-up all the time and it didn't bother me. It's caffeine free so that's a plus :)

Click on "pitta pacifying diet" (under "The Three Doshas") - this is the exact diet you need; acid refux is a manifestation of excess pitta.
The best thing is GOAT MILK.
I buy Meyenburg Low-fat Goat milk (available at Whole Foods, Wild Oats, those types of healthy stores, and also at some regular grocery stores). I heat up THE ENTIRE CONTAINER (which is about 2 large glasses) on the stove, so that its not boiling, but hot. (I tried it "warm" one time and it was gross!). I have that as my dinner or the last thing I consume before bed when my acid reflux is acting up. Goat milk is very healing for the digestive system.
Also, drink a little aloe vera juice (small glass) a few times a week (not every day; its a laxative and your colon can become dependent on it if u overdo it.)

Water and milk. If this is being treated by a general practitioner see a gastroenterologist. If these medications are not working than they may suggest surgery to keep the reflux from coming up at all than you can eat/drink what ever you want.

Try some pepcid instead of mylanta and see if that helps at all. My symptoms are not as severe as yours, but that is what I take. If you can only drink water, see if you can add some crystal light in it. There are individual packs that you can mix in, so you don't have to make a huge batch.

other than water when I am having a problem I can drink weak koolaid . Most of the time though I have to stick to water though. Talk to your doctor about this you may have become tolerant to the Nexium and need to switch to prilocet . Also get test for the H pylori virus which can cause a major flair up.
