Why or why not?

I went to a public school from kg-8, then from gr.9-11, I went to a private school, then I took a few years off and now I am doing grade 12 through correspondence. it is not exactly home schooling, but I kind of teach myself, with help from my superiors (through the internet.) I like studying from home because I can work at my own pace and I don't have to worry about what other students' think about me. Also, since all my assignments are done from home, I can do them at my own time, there is no set time I have to go, which is good, because I volunteer during the day also.

I've got 4 homeschooled kids here with me today (my two and two others spending the day with us), here's what they say:

1) Yes. Because you can do work you want. It doesn't always have to be what somebody else decides.

2) Yes. When you're too stressed with something, you can put it aside and come back to it later. If you're really too tired to work, you can have an easy day. I can be with my family. I can spend hours reading a really good book..

3) Yes. We can use Math Blaster and other fun stuff for school (my 6yo's response lol).

4) Yes. Time to do sports and school work. I can go at my own pace.

In general, I think they like the flexibility!

Here is what my kids say:
14 year old daughter- Yes, because I get my work done quicker, but sometimes I do need help on math and then I call a friends mom who helps me. I get to read a lot and I have more time for my friends because I don't have to do "homework" in the afternoons. I love doing sports at the High School though. Oh, and I will be able to take college classes my 11th grade year.

10 year old- I love science and I get to do more of that at home. I have more time with my friends and I don't have to sit in a desk all day.

From my two kids:
12 yo girl: "I love being homeschooled, because you don't really have the exposure to the different negatives such as bullies, plus we seem to get done so much earlier than kids do in school even though we do a lot more."
11 yo boy: "I really enjoy being homeschooled, because my teacher is my mom, so the teachers are nicer, and also the food is a lot better. There are a lot of things I like, such as being a few years ahead academically and not having to ride the bus. I get to go to school in my pajamas, and I get a lot more free time to pursue my own hobbies."

I like homeschooling, too, as a mom! My husband and I are both members of Mensa and would have done MUCH better if we'd gotten to be homeschooled, rather than be so bored in school. I love these years of doing things with the kids - we play tennis and hike and I get to watch all their soccer practices and soccer games. I've gotten to know a lot of their friends from hosting game days and art classes and movie nights [and Christmas parties and field trips and science fairs and...you get the idea].

I loved it. I went through public school through 10th grade. Then, I was homeschooled. I finished in 9 months. I learned how to overcome my shyness. I was able to work. I homeschooled through distance learning (The American School of Correspondence). I always got good grades, but they got even better. I was able to spend more time with my friends and making new friends.

Well i was homeschooled from 3-7 th grade,it was ok at first but it got really lonely because i had no friends amd no social interaction,i needed to know the dangers and stuff that goes on when i got out of the house,i needed experience and how to deal with ppl i also couldnt go in sports, unless your local school allows it.I never was able to donormal stuff like go to dances or go to movies with friends we never did huge school projects. The good side was no one was able to judge me and make fun of me,i was able to have school for an hour or 2 and be done all day,i had time to do household chores and keep my life organized which is impossible now,im in school now and i was doin ok at first but now its pretty bad im considering goin back to homeschooling but i think it might be good for me to go through this experience
