Independent men and women....? what's your opinion?

As of today, I haven't met any men (real life and online) who would call themselves "independent man" and boast about it!
where as most women will shove it down people's throats on how strong and independent they are.

yes...yes I know men boast on other stuffs (ie.income, cars, conquests....)
but that's not the point!


the point is why most men don't boast about their independence where as women do it every chance they get???


Do women realize how pathetic they look and sound when they're boasting something so ordinary??

Women take pride in calling themselves independent because society is encouraging them to be independent today and they want to be accepted. LOLOLOL

(On preview, I just realized how contradictory that statement is! You can't want to be accepted while being independent!!!! ROTFLMAO Those two desires are mutually exclusive!!! HAHAHAHA!

Still, it's there. (Some) Women do still want it, even though it doesn't make much sense. How much of female psychology makes sense anyway?)

Men don't care about it one way or another because we are independent anyway. It's in our nature. If one of us is not independent then that is a bad thing. He's not going to flaunt his dependence.

Men are not independent because society tells us to be. We are independent because our drive is to achieve. We want to be needed. Women's drive is relational. They want to be wanted, by as many people as possible. So it's actually unnatural for a woman to be independent because she is fighting that desire within herself to be with other people. Men are different. Achievement is contrary to dependence.

Women should be (and are) dependent, whether they like it or not. Men should be independent.

Ladies, disagree? Ever go to a movie theater alone? Ever eat at a restaurant alone? You are social creatures. You NEED people. People are the central focus in your life. They are the reason you wake up in the morning. How can you call yourself independent if you can't function without people? How many times do you call your friends at night? What are you doing tonight? Does it include someone else? If you need to be social, then you are dependent.

But that's okay. It's good to be dependent. It bonds you to the people around you. They are dependent on you too. And they and you are dependable as well. So rejoice in your dependence. Don't fight it. Throw a party instead!

Men are supposed to be independant according to the conventions of society. A man could be proud of being gentle, kind, or sensitive, which are traditional feminine qualities. Men don't boast about being independant because if he weren't independant, he'd be considered less of a man. Whereas an independant woman is a thing that is defined by society as a woman who doesn't need her husband or father to support her, whereas a man is expected not to be supported as an adult by his father or wife

Women do this because they haven't had nearly as much opportunity to be independent as men. The concept is only forty years old at best. With so many other women being passive and unwilling to live for themselves, it's really not that ordinary at all.

Because of society stereotyping women. You look at a guy and you don't wonder how independent he/she is. In fact a guy who is past 18 and living with his parents is thought of as a freak. Women however are viewed as submissive to men and therefore are compelled to tell people that they are independent. Men don't have this, but like you said earlier, we are judged by other scales.
