My friend and I are debating the topic of middle school dating for our debate class in school. She is against, and I am for. So, I wanted to get others opinions and why they thought so. I know that a lot of people are dating in middle school and I know that a lot of people say 16 is a good age. I personally think that 13-ish is perfectly fine. Thanks for your opinions!!!

Well, you should date when you are ready. dating can be and unsafe. and also you parents have to be cool with it also, you just don't want to date anyone, you have to TAKE YOUR TIME being you and NOT to rush things, things can get ugly if you DO NOT know the person well. So my advise is slow down, before it's to late, because you will never go back and start over. So BE YOURSELF!!!

I think that at 16 you're at least a little more mature. At 13, I dont' think you're ready to go through all the emotional drama. I know at 23 it's still hard for me to pick up the pieces so I can't imagine a 13 year old going through that --might take breaking up harder or "finding out boyfriend kissed Samantha at the movies while you were at home".

13 is too young to date, but okay to go out with groups of people...dating takes someone who is more emotionally mature than a 13 yr old is...16 is plenty early, and some aren't ready even then (for one-on-one dating).
Dating is more than going somewhere with a friend...there's an emotional involvement (or potential for it) when one dates...dating relationships are typically testing the waters for romantic or sexual relationships, neither of which a 13 or 14 yr old are ready for emotionally nor are they prepared for the possible physical ramifications.
It sounds like fun, and kids are doing it younger and younger it seems, but just because girls are developing at a younger age now and boys are taking notice, doesn't mean it's appropriate for them to begin acting like adults and participating in adult behaviors...there'll be PLENTY of time for that when they reach adult age... âº

any age is fine. i agree with u that 13 is ok, 16 i think is the best. but if u like someone then the age doesnt matter. just like the whole age gap thing is hideous.
