Quran is not a book of magic which can work miracles in your life, it is a manual of life, something to be followed and to be acted upon. You cannot follow something unless you understand it fully. The concept of getting "blessings" is not right in this way. One gets blessings by ACTING on what is written in the Book and for that one has to understand it. However, the significance of reciting Quran in Arabic (like for example in namaaz) is to preserve the contents in their original form. The reason why the previous scriptures changed was because they got lost in translation. With Quran the case is different as Arabic is a living language and although everyone does not know Arabic and needs to consult translaton to understand the text, still anybody who feels a doubt in the translation can learn Arabic himself or herself and get to know the real content.
So in a nutshell, Quran is a book to follow not to put in beautiful covers and recite without understanding once someone is dead or some problem arises.

The Qur'an was revealed in the Arabic language,It is worship to read it in Arabic, however, you can read it in your language to get a full understanding, however, there are very specific meanings which could only be understood by people experienced in the language.

"As an authentic hadith in At-Tirmithee : “Whoever reads a letter from the Book of Allah, he will have a reward. And that reward will be multiplied by ten. I am not saying that “Alif, Laam, Meem” is a letter, rather I am saying that “Alif” is a letter, “laam” is a letter and “meem” is a letter.” "
