I am having surgery on my ankle but would like to take steps to stay in shape. i will have to be off of it for about six months.

Here is few tips for you. please read /do carefully step by step
1. Hot water foumentation with Salt
2. flexion
3. extension
4. internal rotation
5. external rotation
6. flexion of toe and phalanges
7. extension of phalanges
these exercise will helpful for regaining health and function.
